World Not Ready for AI Revolution

The world is not ready for the advent of AI, says the founder of a Chinese tech investment firm. Millions of people will lose their jobs and sooner than many believe. The problem, as I see it, is that most of these jobs are menial labor and the people performing this labor would have a hard time switching to something else. Interestingly, Lee says Elon Musk's idea of a universal minimum income is not the best solution as it would not motivate people to look for other opportunities for self-realization, as it were. We already had a automation in history and it hasn't reduce the total number of jobs. Saying that we are not ready for AI revolution is like saying we'll stop desiring new and better things. These changes are coming no matter we want them or not.

There will always be jobs that AI can't do. And we need to be trained for those jobs by improving the education. The real question is will the job creation outstrip job destruction. Every major technology wave opens this question.

I'm sure we can adapt to this. We can't hold back innovations because we are afraid but we need to take all the measures we can to keep it under human control.
