EPA's Pruitt cites Bible to justify administration policies

Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) head Scott Pruitt said his desire to use the Earth’s resources like oil and coal is grounded in the Bible. In an interview with the Christian Broadcasting Network published Thursday, Pruitt said that God commands us to take care of the environment and that also means to use what He has provided. “The biblical world view with respect to these issues is that we have a responsibility to manage and cultivate, harvest the natural resources that we’ve been blessed with to truly bless our fellow mankind.”

As a Christian in America, I believe we are incredibly privileged to live in our world of relative abundance, and while we are called upon to do a much better job of sharing what we have with those who are less fortunate both in this country and throughout the world, we are also called upon to serve as trustees of all that is good and useful about our planet for the thousands of generations yet to come.

Looking at resource exploitation in terms of the big picture, I would say that Mr. Pruitt is viewing the world from branches of the Tree of Knowledge, a kind of no-go in the Bible. What does the view from the Tree of Life say?.
