BMW Plans to Build Electric Minis in China

German auto giant BMW,which makes the famed British Mini car, wants to build an electric version of its compact Mini in China, in a possible joint venture with local partner Great Wall Motor. These two companies have yet to agree on important details like where to build a factory and how much to invest.

Smart move. China is a country with fast growing market for EVs and the biggest BMW's market. They have sold 560,000 cars there last year. It's more than  shipments in other major markets the U.S. and Germany did combined.

This decision is unexpected since BMW said they are committed to make cars in the UK. It's obviously a matter of long term survival.

Well Brexit is the biggest threat to all British automakers. They will definitely suffer a lot if they leave the EU, such as facing with many trade barriers.
