Icahn bets on shale

Gonna be a fight between Icahn and Buffett :)

Icahn was exiting his position but in the last week is fully back in Occidental.

I read that Occidental is already planning moves to protect against a takeover. Big wow. That means icahn is betting bigtime on the oil and gas prices to recover.

Oxy better be very careful dealing with Ichan.  He bought a controlling interest in TWA in 1985 and took it private in '86. Which on the surface looked like a good move for the long troubled airline. Wrong.  Shortly after he began selling off long time lucrative routes while retrenching the once proud carrier into a shell of its former self. All while lining his own pockets as thousands found themselves out of a job. Many were lifelong employees of the carrier.

Buffett believes in Building up a company. Ichan only sees the profits he'll pocket as he breaks up a company selling it piecemeal too the highest bidder.  Perfect examples of this: BNSF was purchased by Burkshire-Hathaway and taken private. Buffett poured Billions into the rail carrier. Re-equipping it with newer more modern locomotives. Expanding route structure while capturing new market share.  Ichan; see above comments regarding TWA. In 1992 as TWA entered bankruptcy yet again Ichan was forced out by the unions. Sadly it was too little too late as a couple years later American Airlines swooped in an bought up what was left of TWA in a fire sale.

I know Ichan has submitted a slate of new directors for vote at the upcoming shareholder meeting.  Oxy is deadman walking if they vote his cancerous @ss in...
