White House planning nuclear energy talks with Saudi Arabia

Recommended Posts

According to the report from Bloomberg News, US Energy Secretary Rick Perry will head to London to meet with officials from Saudi Arabia on Friday as the Trump administration considers a nuclear energy deal with the nation. The administration is reportedly considering a deal that would allow Saudi Arabia to enrich and reprocess uranium while setting up American companies including Westinghouse Electric Co. to build nuclear reactors in the Middle East. Saudi Arabia plans to build 16 nuclear reactors over the next 20 to 25 years, according to the report.

I think it is about business deal. However, U.S. firms are not allowed to compete because of a missing cooperation deal. So, Russian or Chinese companies with fewer concerns about enrichment, reprocessing or proliferation might step in. We have to be there somehow

It will not go over really well with Iran. Saudi's are sitting on a sea of oil... why do they need nuclear?

It is one of their rights to go nuclear, and I don't think they need help from anybody.

Saudi, would be wiser to go with French, UK or Russian technology. It is younger and working. US is outdated.

fact is if the Saudi's want it, they will build it whether the US is involved or not. We can participate or let China do it and wonder what's going on forever after that.
