SunPower to Lay Off Hundreds of Workers After Trump Tariffs

Recommended Posts

This company will lay off about 3% of its workers in March. This decision came after President Trump began imposing new tariffs on imported solar materials earlier this month. SunPower has already started the process of laying off between 150 and 250 workers, largely from its research and development and marketing positions. SunPower estimates it will lose $50 million this year and predicting the firm could lose another $100 million in the next year.

They even have to stop planned investment for expending factories and more important creating hundreds of news jobs in the U.S. These $20 million has been used to pay the tariffs instead.  Great job is done with these tariffs.

Protect 8,000 jobs in factories to put 70,000 plus jobs in the solar industry at risk. Way to go. I guess Trump was right when he said we're going to beg him to stop winning.

Those tariffs had nothing to do with bringing back manufacturing. Everything was about killing industry that could eventually challenge oil and gas supremacy.

Those tariffs are going to level the playing field. Companies will be penalized for bringing in cheap Chinese parts. As it should be.
