EU Piles Pressure On Internet Giants To Remove Extremist Content


Google, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and other internet companies must show the European Union within three months that they are removing extremist content more rapidly or face legislation forcing them to do so. European Commision also called on the technology sector, which is dominated by U.S. companies, to adopt proactive measures such as automated detection to rid their platforms of illegal content.Is this  a first step to putting internet giants in charge of censoring Europe ?

In this context EC gives a recommendation. If they decide to cut some content it will be the opposite with some of the elementary rights. Why? Only legislation would provide democratic scrutiny and judicial review. Otherwise, we talking about censorship.
