Joanna + 68 JT March 5, 2018 A top military cyber official told lawmakers on Tuesday that he has not received specific direction from the Trump administration to disrupt Russian cyberattacks targeting U.S. elections. “I haven’t been granted any additional authorities,” U.S. Cyber Command chief Adm. Michael Rogers, who also serves as director of the National Security Agency (NSA), told lawmakers on the Senate Armed Services Committee. While Rogers said he has not asked for additional authorities to stop Russian cyberattacks at the source, he noted that it would ultimately be up to President Trump to give him that permission. “I need a policy decision that indicates there is specific direction to do that,” Rogers said. “The president ultimately would make this decision in accordance with a recommendation from the secretary of Defense.” Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

I don't know why its hard to believe that they had a campaign aimed at furthering the agenda of the environmentalists in the hopes that it would hurt the US energy industry. I'm sure it's not just the Russians and I'm sure it's not limited to the energy industry. Lots of white hat activities go on to further causes, fake profiles, fake blogs, and whatnot. It's not like it's a farfetched idea. How successful any of these are remain to be seen and impossible to quantify. But I'm not sure why that's hard to believe.
