Why is gold soooo boring?

I keep thinking that now is the time to get back into gold, but I also think that almost nothing can move it these days--even when fundamentals are solid. And is gold really a sound hedge against inflation anymore?

Every time I even think of gold I get sleepy. I agree it's not necessarily rational, but I think part of the problem is that other things seem more exciting (cryptos, battery metals).

Well, I think buying jumped right after the January U.S. inflation report, so I guess a lot of people still believe it is the ultimate hedge. But that doesn't make it exciting, very true. Now I feel kind of sad for gold.
