Elon Musk Tweeted at the President to Push China on Car Tariffs

Elon Musk posted a series of tweets directed at President Trump asking for “equal & fair rules for cars” when it comes to the US and China.  Musk complained to Trump how the US places a 2.5%  tariff on cars imported to the US from China, while China places a 25 % tariff on US imports and that China's government forces foreign automakers that want to manufacture cars in the country to partner with a Chinese car company. Trump later read the tweets from a printed piece of paper during the televised announcement about tariffs on imported steel and aluminum.

Seems like a common sense request to me.

Right, this is about fair trade. And there's a sea between fair trade and trade war. The steel tariffs as proposed weren't going to work in the U.S.'s favor. That's why he backed down and exempted Canada and Mexico. As Musk described the steel tariffs as originally proposed: It's like running an Olympic race wearing lead shoes.

Yes!

Steel tariffs seem logical to me, but it also seems logical to exempt our northern and southern neighbors.
