I saw oil rallied a bit on this news. Nigeria really defines the phrase 'resource curse'. And that's about to get worse. Someone just released a study linking the death of newborn babies to oil spills, particularly in the Niger Delta.

It is difficult to talk about rights of workers, not just in Nigeria's oil sector. We have a similar situation in more other countries. I've found a report from February this year, with monthly salary for oil stuff in Nigeria.
Shell (SPDC) N 667,000 (permanent), N 250,000 (contract)
Exxon Mobil N 1 million
Total OIl N 1 million
MObil Oil Nigeria N 500,000
Mobil Producing NIgeria N 700,000- N 800,000
Converter N 500,000- $139
