Apple Approved Misbehaving Cryptomining Feature

Recommended Posts

I'm not happy with paying monthly fee for new features as soon as they are developed but even that is better than what happened to Mac App Store. Instead of paying a flat fee of $17.99 or a 99 cents per month subscription to gain access to all of Calendar 2's advanced features, the app now offered "All advanced features for free" while it " “unobtrusively” generate the Monero cryptocurrency in the background without your permission.

I don't have a problem with cryptomining but I certainly have a problem when someone is doing it on my computer without my full, conscious permission.

The users complained that this app launched a cryptocurrency miner consuming about 200% CPU before they even found out what's happening. It's hard to believe Apple didn't know about this before user's complaint.

If they missed this one, than what other applications did they miss too that we don't know yet.
