Sen Schumer was for Trump addressing China threat. NOW that Dem candidate Biden is a Chinese apple-polishing, bootlicking, brownnoser, toady Chuck now defends China.

When Trump started to right the wrongs U.S. suffered from China New York Senator Schumer was very supportive.  He even wanted Trump to be more forceful.

Now that Democrats nominated Chinese sycophant  Biden as their Presidential candidate Schumer has done a 180° turn on China by actually repeating their false narratives and propaganda.

The Main Stream Media followed suit and is playing  right along with Senator Schumer. If the MSM spoke the truth about China they would destroy any chance their Biden becomes president.  Politics ahead of country.

I hope people see thru this.

I do not get the impression that Mr. Biden has what it takes to be a US President.

I would mention that the Democratic national Convention is not until August 17 to 20, 2020, so Mr. Biden has not, factually, been "nominated" to anything.  He would have more convention delegate votes at this point; whether that translates into the actual nomination is another thing.  If he receives the nomination then it would appear that Mr. Trump will be elected to a second term, assuming he runs  (his wife does not want him to).   The Democrats do not seem to be capable of bringing fresh candidates to the table, so old Clintonistas being recycled from retirement is their answer.  The US public has had quite enough of these guys.  Amazing stuff, indeed.

Gerry, I do try to be polite.

Mr. Biden may well be a nice person.  What the USA needs right now is serious Leadership, and I make that with a capital letter "L".   And that Leader also has to have the ability to bring in and keep on board serious, intelligent people who can perform under pressure.   At this point, nobody seems to have the ability to do that.   I remain depressed for the future of this nation, at the national level.  Hopefully, on the State and local levels, the best people will set their personal affairs aside and stand up to the plate.   We can always hope.

Mr. Biden is woefully inadequate even to speak in a fluid manner about anything of importance. I have until now given him a lot of leeway: he has had two (2) cerebral aneurysms resected, and they were performed at a time when the neurosurgeon had to dig through white matter to get to the aneurysms (these days, it's about a thirty-minute procedure to coil them through a catheter inserted in the femoral artery).

HOWEVER, he can't seem to keep his thought processes together, forgets the thread of his ramble, and exhibits overt cognitive dysfunction--the curse of the aging brain (possibly accentuated by scars in his brain). I was sure that his wife would tell him that he was embarrassing himself. However, the allure of the White House seems too strong.

The devastation of this pandemic on the economy is of such magnitude that it will take years and several different leaders to bring us out of it. Unless that lagging horseman, War, finally shows up (my father was adamant that the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse always rode together). Why war? And why now?

You think we have it bad in the US, you should see Europe, or so I'm told. Already on the ropes economically, there is no European Plan whatsoever. They can't print money like we can. They don't have vast empty lands to run from the cities and spread out on--to dilute out the pestilence. They're intricately tied into China's 5G network and yet they realize that Xi tricked the whole world into devastation. The UK left the European Union just in time, but unfortunately, they're still tied to them at the waist and the US can only help out so much.

What about the rest of the world? At these oil prices, unless there's a solution, Russia is going to soon enter poverty as a country. If the Saudis persist and there is no action on our end, they'll go bankrupt--they can only short the market with certainty so many times and that last time has likely passed. Iran has been decimated by the virus and is truly in dire straits. So is Iraq. Australia can't make much of a profit at LNG prices that currently abound--Qatar has vast amounts of natural gas and wants to move it.

From this beaten-down pack, Xi wants desperately to emerge from his Made-in-China pestilence as the new superpower. And that simply can't be allowed to happen.

Enter War. My father was right: War always catches up with Pestilence, Hunger and Death.

The main threat to America is Trump.  The only ones who do not see this are greedy financiers/industrialists who constantly seek corporate welfare, white (racist) evangelicals, and assorted brownshirts.  The truth is, everything he touches dies. That's it.  If he places you in his administration, kiss your reputation goodbye, you'll eventually be fired in a torrent of abuse.  He touches a marriage, it dies via divorce (twice).  He touches a business, it dies via bankruptcy (at least 4 times).  He touches higher education, it dies (via fraud in Trump University).  He touches a country, it dies (or is dying, due to his botched COVID response).  He touches miners, they die (from black lung and bankruptcies).  He touches coal, it dies (again, record bankruptcies).  He touches America's debt status, it dies (with record debt added even before COVID).  He touches farmers, they die (literally through suicides, amid record foreclosures).  He touches civility, it dies.  He touches democracy, it is dying.  But he has his Fox-centered sycophants that support him primarily out of racist animus.  Those who feed on pornography and prostitutes at night but fight for abortion rights during the day.  Bloody hypocrites.

Well, he's touching the oil industry now.  Any guesses what will happen?

I think that a strong, popular, and believable vice presidential candidate is vital but that is not enough. They would have to kill off Biden before the election. He is a total mess IMHO. I don't really think that would even work. Maybe a switcheroo before the election. Governor Newsom of California is popular there but most people from other states don't trust Californians anymore, and with good reason.

The war will have to be economic and biological that can be hidden etc. The Chinese use many theories on how to wage war. Our smartest military leaders are aware of them, at least I hope so.

I hope Mr. Ben Ari feels better after that little outburst.

Mr. Trump is a deeply flawed man.   But it remains that he is still better than any other plausible candidate for the job.  In the USA, the candidates are all selected by party elites, the insiders, and then proffered to the voters as their personal trophies, and portrayed as Golden Boys.  What makes Mr. Trump attractive is that he is a complete outsider, never held any public office ever, not even City Council, yet is capable of demolishing every single other candidate, from both within his party, of the opponent party, and all Independents, and prevail in a countrywide general election.   Has anyone else every pulled that off?  I think the last person to be able to do that was Abe Lincoln  (If I am historically wrong, please chime in!).

No one is claiming Mr. Trump as their Golden Boy   (OK, so Steve Bannon does, but that hardly counts). Nonetheless, he comes out on top.  What does this tell you?   It tells me that the jaundiced public sees him as the best man for the job, not from among the entire population, but from that limited sub-set of those who run.  The voters are the issuers of the Verdict.

The reason I think Biden does have a chance is that a good portion of Americans are probably now in the same position as 2016 i.e. they will vote for any candidate who opposes Trump (vs. Hillary) because his conduct is so embarrassing to the country.

I guess I've often wondered how he is considered such a business genius when he has spent the country into oblivion and put it in worse fiscal shape than any previous administration, even before COVID-19.

That is an interesting perspective.   Among the educated classes, there is a lot of truth in that.  Among the TV classes, I would doubt they care.  Among the total-redneck classes, I suspect they actually glory in it.

Mr. Trump is not a "business genius."    That said, he is still better at it than his political rivals, who are even more incompetent, and would arguably have done much, much worse.  There is an interesting dynamic in American politics, where the voters typically end up with a ballot containing poor candidates, and the voters have to pick the "least worst."  For example, assume that Hillary Clinton had prevailed in the electoral college in 2016  (and brought back Mr. Bill as the First Husband, to prowl the white House corridors looking for naive young things):  do you seriously think that that Administration would have done better than Mr. Trump's over the last years?

At least Mr. Trump does not steal the White House furniture, and objets d'art off the walls.  Give the man some credit.

Biden has a stutter that may explain some of his awkward moments: https://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2020/01/joe-biden-stutter-profile/602401/

He's talked about it on the campaign trail in previous campaigns.

Is he more gaffe prone than he used to be? I dunno.  Maybe he's just more visible than he used to be since he's running for president: availability bias.

I think the November race is 50/50 odds at the moment. Trump has a limited ceiling in the number of people who will support him. It depends on who shows up to vote - if the turnout is more like 2016 or 2018 in the 6 or 7 states that will matter.

Biden holding a engaging debate with Trump is ridiculous, many would not like the way Trump handles him or the moderators....it would just be disatouroues.

Already the Democratic party is attempting to change up the election procedures...Actually pay close attention to the actual nomination process itself. My own beliefs are we will see somebody else other than Bid en..

Drastic times call for drastic measures.

It would be a wise decision for the Dem's to maneuver Cuomo in there as VP if Biden's the guy.
