Amnesty came out today and slammed Eni and Shell for their failure to address spills in Nigeria (I think they used the word "negligence"). Many major outlets picked up the story.

Two more Eni stories then surfaced: "Eni raises upstream oil, natural gas growth target, plans renewed exploration drive" and "Exploration Is 'Weapon' Against Difficult Oil Market, Says Eni CEO"

Anything to keep the public's eye off its Nigeria troubles.

Yeah, they've all been doing that for EVER. There is not nearly enough pressure on them to own up to having destroyed the Niger Delta.

They just blame the locals for vandalism and cutting access to the spill sites. But both Eni and Shell also have another egg frying on their... heads. The corruption case. Wonder how this one will go.
