I have noticed symptoms of Trump Derangement Syndrome. Is there a cure ?

Recommended Posts

Recently I noticed that while writing at this forum I often digress to critisize Donald Trump.

It is often not justified by the subject of the discussion, it is just happening.

I do not hate your President or your country.

Maybe it is some sort of shadenfreude, because of errors of otherwise very succesful man.

Maybe on some subconscious level this gives some personal gratitude to critisize this person.

Fareed Zakaria defined the syndrome as "hatred of President Trump so intense that it impairs people's judgment".

Best advice I can give is to unplug your TV for a week, and don't listen to news for a week.

If you are not in a lockdown country, go outside and walk every day in fresh air for a week.

That should clear your head and reduce your stress levels.

Then, once you resume paying attention to news after that, try making a game of how many times you can identify unwarranted bias in media news.  Once you see it, it cannot be unseen.

Or if you want an alternate game to play, see how much unwarranted pro-CCP bias you can identify in media, TV or movies.

For some reason this photo rings a chord...it is what it is.

I actually hate it when that happens.  My buddy who owns the boat gets grumpy and refuses to go home if I out-fish him too much.

Find myself praying he catches a fish just so we can get off the water after a long day in the boat.

Here, I'll start.  This is a "thinking game".

Try to come up rebuttals or reasonable expanations to the bolded questions below.

(Note: not my words below.  From elsewhere, for your consideration.)

=====================================

If you were a communist superpower whose economic infrastructure was about to be completely destroyed and you were about to be exposed as a Democrat co-conspirator in the destruction of the the United States for profit, what would you do during the most important election year in world history? An election that would completely wipe out your Democrat incumbent infiltrate traitors forever - traitors who provided you with obscenely fat contracts in exchange for massive kickbacks?

Would you sit back and do nothing or would you do everything in your power, along with your co-conspirators to take out your enemy? How would you do that? Would you make it so obvious by launching a missile attack against the most powerful nation in the world who would be able to wipe you out in just a matter of minutes?

No, you'd do it in such a way that your attack would be incredibly clandestine and destroy the enemy from within - destroying the will of the people, their freedoms and their economy. You'd partner with your traitorous media servants to push so much fear that the people would blame their own institutions instead of the source enemy. Your media servants would simply redirect the blame, doing everything in their power to conceal who the true enemy is.

Hi Tom,

Personally, I have been watching the President (and have avoided the pundits ommentary) since the beginning of the coronavirus epidemic. To hear it from the horse's mouth.

And I must admit that it has been confusing.

"its just a flu" - no, it wasn't

"15 cases, zero death, we will be fine" - no we haven't

"Chloroquine" - discredited

"UV light and disinfectant inside the body" - WTF?!

He lost me. Sorry.

No issue.  Trump rubs many people the wrong way.  He has a peculiar way with words, and you cannot always take him literally.  Trump's biggest mistake in this virus fiasco was blindly trusting the "Experts".

Some people are surprised that I used to write scathing comments about Trump around 2016 on the now defunct OIlpro forum.  I would dearly love to show you some of my anti-Trump comments from there, but the Oilpro forum is gone from the internet.

My favorite term for Trump around 2016 was demagogue.  One of my articles back then was something entitled like "What would happen to global oil & gas if Trump became President" and I linked to this article:

Trump's plan to seize Iraq's oil: 'It's not stealing, we're reimbursing ourselves'

I'm not asking anyone to be a Trump supporter.

But is it too much to ask to gently nudge others to think for themselves, rather than blind acceptance of being told what to think by the media?

Hi Tom,

As I said. I have avoided media and pundits altogether, and only listened to the President.

"Liberate the states", then

"I wouldn't do it, it's a bit early (Georgia)"

It is so confusing... he lost me.

The President himself. Not the media, not the pundits.

Happy to hear how you make sense of what the President says. Rationally.

Yes the cure is .  .  .

HildroxyClintonquine.

But the cure is worse than the disease

Please don’t pretend that you didn’t already hate Trump before anybody had ever heard of the novel coronavirus 2019. And when I say don’t pretend, I mean don’t lie.

Hey Tom,

Do you really consider that post you made to be a "gentle nudge"?  LOL Oh my goodness!  We may have to agree to disagree about what these terms mean!

Oops, I forgot that I tend to overindulge in the use of hyperbole to make a point.

OK, so Mr. Trump is not what you would describe as "articulate" in the English Language.  He stumbles around.

The adjustment to this is perfectly rational: he marries immigrant wives from Eastern Europe, they won't beat on him for being inarticulate, now will they?   Problem solved.

There is no disease that cannot be cured by an injection of bleach and a proper flash of the UV light. Be sure to do it with a sarcastic smile in case it does not work.

You see, Tom, what you did here, you should not do it, and I think that deep down, you know it. What Donald Trump does is not just "way with words", as shooting someone through the head is not just "having a way with bullets". There is a precise term for what Donald Trump does, and that is lying, as in consciously issuing false statements with ulterior motives. Now you will notice that most cultural traditions very strongly discourage and condemn lying, for example, the Bible (which many Americans consider the foundation of their cultural heritage), contains these assesments:

"There are six things that the Lord hates, seven that are an abomination to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil, a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows discord among brothers." (unfortunately, Donald is guilty here in all charges)

"Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord, but those who act faithfully are his delight." etc., etc.

There is probably no nation in the world that would celebrate liars and for a good reasons - they are dangerous to people around them, and they erode trust without no society can operate. Imagine two electricians working together, one asking the other: "Have you disconnected the wire as I asked, is it safe?", and the second would reply: "Yes, I have personally seen to it, it's totally safe, you can go ahead", but when the first electrician would proceed, he would be killed, because his colleague has not done his job and was too cowardly to admit it.

And since the beginning of Donald Trumps presidency, we can see him lie almost every day, and in a very childish way, because his statements can be easily checked against records and refuted - for example his silly rambling about injecting bleach was not a "sarcasm towards the journalists", he was not even speaking to the journalists at the moment, he was trying to convince a healthcare professional to give merit to an insanely stupid idea that just hatched in his brain. Which leads us to another statement where you are wrong - it's not true that Trump "listened too much to the so called experts". He dismissed their advice instead (because the picture it painted was too bleak), and chose to live in a fantasy he created in his head instead, rambling about how everything is "under control" (it was not), how the virus "will soon go away" (it won't), and how "nobody under his watch died because there was not enough ventilators" (once again, a blatant lie). Robert de Niro characterized him accurately as "a fraud that does not do his homeworks, and does not even care". If Trump listened to the "so called experts" and secured supplies in time (or at least did not fire US national pandemic team), America would probably have much fewer fatalities from the virus.

And the people who died needlessly due to his delusional, chaotic decisions, due to his obsessions about personal gains (reelection) instead of performing adequately in his role, and due to preferring quackery and conspiration theories to solid scientific advice (and again, cherry-picking from bizarre theories cobbled together with broken logic is not "independent thinking"), those death are his responsibility, and consequently a responsibility of the people who elected him and whose lack of moral compass keep him in power, because a healthy society would not stand a pathological liar to represent their nation. Clinton was impeached for lying about a blowjob (a personal matter of negligible importance), Donald Trump lies almost every day in matters that cost lives, and it's okay? Something terrible must have happened to the society as a whole to enable this horrible shift of standards.

Yoshiro, my eyes tend to glaze over while attempting to read your endlessly repetitive TDS rants.

Sorry, I just don't believe that Orange Man is the Anti-Christ.

On the other hand, if you want to blame Bill Gates as the Anti-Christ, then at least we could have an amusing discussion.

No, I'm not telling you to shut up, and I'm not censoring you, I simply have little patience for reading your TDS rehashes.  So I only skimmed the first 2 paragraphs before rolling my eyes yet again and ignoring the rest of your comment.

These days, I tend to just roll my eyes at not only the endless TDS pushed daily by the media, but also the Covid panic hysteria pushed daily by the media.  Same crap regurgitated endlessly.  I'm not buying it.

Actually, I'm hoping for Trump to bring back General Flynn into a senior role in the federal government, that should make some sparks fly.
