Automaker Team Up With States to Get Americans to Buy More EVs

Recommended Posts

Sixteen major automakers are teaming up with seven Northeastern states to support a new advertising venture with the aim of getting Americans to buy more EVs. Their goal isn't to make everyone a Tesla owner but focus on hybrid vehicles, both standard and plug-in hybrids.

This is great. Everyone is waking up. EV's are the future and here to stay. Get with it or get out.

It might be the future, but it will probably be a distant  future.

In the U.S. definitely a distant future where people are trending toward trucks and SUVs. Just 200,000 EVs were sold last year which is 2% of the 17 million total vehicles sold over the all year.

The reasons EVs work so well in Norway are 1, it's a small nation and 2. it's a wealthy nation. That's not so true for most of the world so, yeah, EVs have a long way to go to displace ICEs. Sad news for those unfortunate enough to live in great big polluted cities.

I still want to see what automakers have to say.. Much opportunity for buyers if prices are lowered.

I wouldn't expect to much about lower prices. With campaign called "Drive change. Drive electric" the only change automakers are mentioning is reduction of climate change emissions as the main reason to buy EV. Nothing about price change downwards.

With new electric power generation technology knowledge and the true reduction cost for building EV  cars pricing needs to reduce.  Many changes need to happen to benefit the "PEOPLE".  The is so much knowledge about technology that can change the world and it is sidelined for the Big Boys to get every penny they can out of fossil fuel technology and opium they get  and fight over.

This is good news for EV car buyers because regardless where more EV’s are sold, the average cost of manufacture, and therefore the price point, goes down

EVs are our future, either we want that or not. The demand for these cars will increase over time and car makers will have to consider lowering prices because these prices won't be realistic any more.

Is any auto company making any money on EVs ?  It seems to be a lot of eye wash for the big automakers.

In 1972 you could not see the buildings in Chicago or New York; forget about breathing in Denver, LA, Frisco, and many other cities in  US. We took lead out of our gas and you could see and breath again. The 55 mph speed limit was awful.

The Europeans did not get around to this in late 80's or early 90's.

I know one auto company that certainly isn't making money on EVs. Tesla.
