Is Dudley Getting Paid Too Much?

BP's Bob Dudley got a handsome paycheck of about $10 million for last year and some people are unhappy about it. What do you think, does he deserve the money? Do all the Big Oil CEOs deserve their seven-figure or more paychecks?

You have to reward performance. The pot has to be sweet enough to stick around and not go to the next company willing to pony up the cash. I don't know that he "deserves" the money, but it's wise and just good business. It makes sense for CEOs to get big bonuses. Companies have issued big bonuses to decision makers for almost ever, because it works.

But now shareholders are getting unhappy with it. Sooo, shouldn't they listen to shareholders? They apparently did, anyway, since they cut his package but some seem to believe it's not enough.
