Marco Rubio warns: China's Communist Government has stolen U.S. National Technology

Recommended Posts

Marco Rubio's referring to article from freebeacon.com "Party Directive Reveals Increased Chinese Theft of U.S. Technology" said: "Our nations technology is being stolen by the China communist government in an alarming and unprecedented way through espionage and coercion. Soon I will be introducing measures to deal with all this. This can’t continue." Technology, patents, intellectual property rights, pharmaceuticals, etc.....but China just promised to stop doing it.....again. Vicious circle.

Only a populist statement, nothing more. It's been happening for a while. Why is it taking so long to act on these important issues? Congress is broken and Rubio is part of the problem...

That`s why Huawei and ZTC grow so fast, including Ali and other Chinese SOE high tech companies, etc.

And what do you see as a suitable solution to this problem?

The biggest problem is that this problem exists for a very long time. They have been stealing for years,decades... And, now Rubio send 'alarm' after a decade of silence. If he had made a statement and five years ago he would be right. And, what is answer - nothing. There are plenty of reasons why China comes close or overtake to U.S. in the field of technology, in general. This is pretty well explained in this article.

I understand. Easy to point out problems, though, and not so easy to point to solutions.

So you don't feel the tariffs ($60B) on commerce was a good start to help China get a bit more motivated to correct their stealing of our technological advancement information?   It should have been closer to $300B for starters but maybe it will give China somewhere to realize things are going to change albeit slowly!

But, China also has a tightly-controlled government that works well when they are tied to private investment. How else could they compete in a world where borders and allegiance to one's country are not paramount? American companies are not innocent when it comes to selling trade secrets and technology to the highest bidders. It is, after all, a dog-eat-dog arena if you want to survive.

Marco Rubio either doesn't understand or he is more tuned in to the lockstep partisan mindset that is putting America into a more isolationist position in world markets. Even R&D funding has been cut in the current budget and all that does is open the door for other developing countries to look elsewhere for help in building their economies and infrastructure.

The saying, "Lead, follow or get out of the way" is as true today as it ever was. Rubio needs to get out of the way.
