I think Jan went to a US ivy league school.  Of course that doesn't make him a "victim" unless you think those collages indoctrinate and corrupt haha.  I agree Jan is plenty smart, certainly knows a lot about history and law.

I went to a private school for 7-9, was not a fan. Dress code was super annoying, what teen wants to wear dress pants and shirt nearly everyday?

Well friend you talk down to those of us that didn't and had to work in shitty jobs in the oilfield and are piss poor

Not a problem, but just had to say it ;)

Socioeconomic factors dwarf most everything else (genetics, etc.)

Some of the disparity is also due to the testing format employed.  The tests are more often designed and administered by whites in English or a poor English to native language translation.

The tests also often contain questions that are culturally biased  "What did Johnny find under the Christmas tree?"  is a silly question for a little kid who never had Christmas at home.

Not been proven at all

University of Alberta is much cheaper and easier to get into.

I highly doubt any 'university' these days could be classed as well respected but I'm just an older guy living in a crazy world.

To be honest I thought race riots and economic collapse was going to happen eventually and in my circles there was an aguement for 'acceleration' of the problem...at the time it was a joke to me because it seemed implausble

We're in a very very serious situation in the west, the question is do we want to save it?

I'd say yes

Sub Saharan IQ is around 65-70 IQ and blacks in the US is around 80-85% which is well below average.

I hope they figure it out but I'm not going to have my family murdered because of a social experiment gone wrong...lets face it we just don't know.

There's book smarts, street smarts and kinesthetic (body) smarts. Whites win in only one of those categories. If part of your IQ test involved dancing, you'd probably fail. Same for getting through the warzones that many inner cities have become, only failing that IQ test can cost you your life. They're not necessarily stupid, they're just not motivated to play the game we're playing.

Successful blacks moving up the economic ladder produce successful high (traditional) IQ children. Unfortunately their children are outnumbered 50-1 at least by unsuccessful environment children. All those IQ's go into the same average.

The fact that you are a victim of US education system the same as @Douglas Buckland @Ward Smithor @Dan Warnick and you have absolutely No idea about other ( other than US) political systems should not be the reason of your pride. Or derogatory comments directed to people that have more knowledge and share it at this forum.

The fact that you do not understand the upsides and downsides of political system of your country is a shame.

If you do not understand my arguments it does not mean that I am stupid or that you are stupid.

There is no real ""US Education system". There are public schools in good places with good options, about half the people go there, private schools in the big cities where the top 10% of families send their kids, and then various degrees of public schools in various locations with the worst of them being in the urban centers and rural areas. I have been to at least one of each type.

For the most part, if your parents care and are not tied to a bad area with no ability to pay for private school, then you can get a good basic education up to high school that would land you at a decent top 100 (globally) school. Would it be at the level of major city schools in Paris or Hague? Not really, they have very academically segregated systems.Only a handful of the schools are actually high quality. Teaching is not the kind of work that attracts people of high talent in the US unless they are dedicated to it. It just doesn't pay enough. Even private schools don't pay that well. It is much better after 20 years of teaching in the public schools and the big payoff is in retirement, it is economically difficult for a teacher to start in public schools.

So your idea of victims of the American school system would only apply to the occupants of the streets with the flaming stores around them. Most others make up for what was missing when they go to college or university. The people on this forum have a much better education than you imply, even some of the idiots. The folks you are berating obviously had a better education than you are implying.

The claim that you are understanding the US system is laughable, you obviously don't. The thought that the parliamentary system is superior is rejected by anyone with an understanding of how they work to maintain privileges to narrow groups for decades on end, who allays seem to make it into the coalition governments, regardless of which leading party wins. Or alternately, the vague groupings left to right resulting in government coalitions that are unstable with the fringe parties dropping off, or the center parties falling off. Sometimes, as in Germany, you have large center coalitions that stay in power for decades, or those systems that have such levels of parliamentary dysfunction that they are ruled by the bureaucracy and the courts with no public say in what either of them do.

For the most part, European parliamentary government is both unstable (coalitions) and unchangeable (bureaucracies).

Finally, you don't understand a federal system - which is common to Europeans, and is the reason the EU is both running off on its own power trip of bureaucrats while the politics remain as centrifugal as ever.

Two of the police officers were rookies following the training officer.  And as rookies you're supposed to do whatever the training officer tells you to do.

Just bad luck on their part to get caught in all this.

I think the IQ when we were born is just a starting point, the same way with physical, health, appearance, EQ and these can be accumulated later in life. The family and environment and events we go through in life with will decide our habits . Animals and us all have the tendency  to choose the most convenient way to live and which assets you use the most will be accumulated and if you don't use these assets, it will gradually depreciate. The environment is like the luck that we cannot control but if we get new environment, we may have new luck. Pushing our-self out of our comfort zone is never easy and in many cases, we are forced to go out of our comfort zone rather than actively get out of it.

It sounds really simple and all of us know it but it is hard to find balance point to advance every assets because time is limit resource. It is okay if we want to spend 100% of our time for enjoying family or friendship or liberal values but at least appreciate the tax payers who help support us for our choices. We should acknowledge that what we have and don't have are because of our choices, not from inequality and should not actively asking for more. We all have 24 hours a day to invest since the day we are born until  the day we die so others are sacrificing their times for us. True appreciation and empathy are the key values most of religions embrace and it is the difference between good and bad. We don't need a religion or education to have them as well.

IQ says nothing about your actual intelligence; it is a statistical model to compare people within a sample pool.  You need standardized tests to do inter-group comparisons.

If you IQ test 1,000 monkeys, 50% will score above 100.

I love this ranking because my uni is in the list (It is rank 1st in Impact Criteria for last 2 years but  from my opinion it is as good as President Obama won the Nobel Prize. However it feels good that people gonna hear about your uni :P), but I rationally think they are kinds of bias. One example is number of race diversification, international students and famous politicians will be counted in reputation, so Universities with long histories and from big countries will have some advantage than small countries. And other countries will need more points in other criteria to keep up with the ranking.

Each country in the top have different advantages, for example the main drive of Germany are the quality of the workers who are famous in their machine skills are not only because of tertiary education but from the family traditions and pass along the experience of generations. Each of individual are proud of this family tradition. Because of free education system, Germany emphasizes on trading skills rather than encourage students in liberal arts. Luckily in the US the high student loans make students responsible for their choices. Besides our learning process in the first 23 years consist only half of what we become in our prime middle age, we simply have more time to concentrate in learning in the first 23 years. Japanese are famous for the hard working, take high social responsibility and attentions to details. US are famous for risk taking and entrepreneurs. China with population  and heavy state control, UK are famous for financial or management or trading skills.

I partly agree with Marcin2  but not in the sense of US arrogant about their educations but in the reverse. US history in high school & tertiary and mainstream was tampering with slavery guilt and inequality for political purpose and overlook the positive traditional values and ideology. It creates conflicts between people appreciate the positive traditional side vs people who concentrate on the negative traditional side and become "progressive" or taking for granted with the excuse they are collecting their ancestors debt. (The same way Greece asked Germany giving back the gold, India  ask the UK to give back the gold, Vietnam ask French to give back the gold...).

While in most other Countries, the history and education is concentrate about making their people proud of their origins, their current countries. Big countries in Europe Countries don't mention much about the "historical debts" they owe or even be proud of that but concentrate in they gave birth to democracy, republic, renaissance time, industrial revolution and export it to colonial countries, exporting capitalism/socialism ideologies.

So under the combination of these 2 historical educational systems, Europe political image is mature and wise and US political image is immature, strong and dangerous, fast and furious, big gambler which may make the world unstable and should "grow up". And half of US citizen want to import Europe progressive values (and Europe themselves want to export these) and other half want to keep US Conservatism as an extension of Individualism, which are not old enough to be recognized world wide yet facing severe competition and can be dead at young age.

Personally I think EU rather competing with China in manufacturing than competing with the US, as they rely on their exports than China and they have more technological advantage. The covid19 tests could be mass produced in Germany in short amount of time because they can have what they need within their chemical industry while US need to import from either Europe or China. It will be a disaster economically for them to US manufacturing and consuming US products while China market collapse because of  the trade war. They didn't realize that US is about fair competition as they need their people to have competition as well. The trade war with China is more about unfair and corrupted competition rather than US try to dominate the world with its products. If US wants to use its power to be on top instead of improving its competitiveness, Japan, Europe or China wouldn't come this far. But the world would be much unstable than just the US-China trade war. The same way Germany wouldn't use their power to control Europe but their competitiveness.

The Tocqueville effect (also known as the Tocqueville paradox)[1] is the phenomenon in which as social conditions and opportunities improve, social frustration grows more quickly.[2][3] The effect is based on Alexis de Tocqueville's observations on the French Revolution and later reforms in Europe and the United States. Another way to describe the effect is the aphorism "the appetite grows by what it feeds on".[4] For instance, after greater social justice is achieved, there may be more fervent opposition to even smaller social injustices than before.

The effect suggests a link between social equality or concessions by the regime and unintended consequences, as social reforms can raise expectations that can't be matched.[5] According to the Tocqueville effect, a revolution is likely to occur after an improvement in social conditions in contrast to Marx's theory of progressive immiseration of the proletariat (deterioration of conditions).[6]

Relatedly, political scientist James Chowning Davies has proposed a J curve of revolutions which contends that periods of wealth and advancement are followed by periods of worsening conditions, leading to a revolution. Ted Robert Gurr also used the term relative deprivation to put forth that revolutions happen when there is an expectation of improvement, and a harsh reality in contrast.[7]

So this breaks down in English like this? Your spoiled brat fucking kids that have had everything handed to them on a silver platter and never had any REAL strife in their life will actually INVENT something to be distressed about to keep their lives exciting enough? Never suffered for even a day of their lives so they will invent their own suffering.....

So we as parents should have been providing something to divert their short attention spans enough for them to not come up with these supposed disparities in their lives that actually don't exist?

Fantastic!  There was/is another very informative article on that credible website:

Bombshell Report: Trump Offered to Sell California to Putin for One Dollar; Deal Breaks Down Over Putin Demand for Alaska Too

Linked story by Pepe Johnson on February 5th, 2020

Let’s face it: this was a tough week for Democrats, none of which was our fault. The orange man is making fun of us for not being able to count the votes from the Iowa caucuses (as though that’s the Democrats’ fault!), and he is about to get off of his current impeachment charges, at least for now, because republicans won’t allow brave congresspersons like Jerry Nadler and Adam Schiff to question witnesses and reveal bombshell surprises.

We all watched in tearful disbelief when stunning and brave congressperson of white Adam Schiff predicted that if Trump was not impeached, that Trump might give Alaska back to Russia. We know how literally true Mr. Schiff’s words always are. Any time the words “California Democrat” follow a person’s name, it immediately fosters a sense of trust among us in what that brave California Democrat will say next.

When Congressperson Schiff delivered his statesmanlike legal argument about Trump giving Alaska back to Russia, many of us ran, literally shaking, to our safe spaces while watching the gripping impeachment speeches on our phones. And yet again, his prediction turned out to be eerily correct.

An unconfirmed source has revealed a secret deal in which Trump offered Putin the state of California for one dollar ($1.00). Insiders say that sales for one dollar make a sale “official” and legal, and therefore the sale becomes permanent. Putin allegedly counteroffered a trade of Chernobyl for both California and Alaska. “Alaska is a hard no. If you want to trade Chernobyl for California straight up we can talk. But no Alaska, good people, lots of oil and some gold. No Alaska.” said Trump, revealed an anonymous former associate of an unnamed person who was told about the call. (Chernobyl is an abandoned, highly radioactive town in Russia).

“California looks like shithole Mr. President, I’m looking at photos on satellite photos. There is human feces and needles all over the street; I think Chenobyl is a fair shithole-for-shithole trade. Plus your boy Pencil Neck kind of promised me Alaska already hahaha.” Putin allegedly countered, revealed a former co-worker of a bystander.

Cali-Needles.jpg?fit=1024%2C682&ssl=1

“Look Vladimir, you get California, you get millions of communists that want to live in a Marxist society. Sure they crap all over the place, but a quick tune-up with your communist cops with the batons will cure that fast. They are all yours for a dollar.” allegedly laughed the Carbon Footprint in Chief.

“I’ll sleep on it. By the way, you watch Iowa caucus? Hahaha. We have good laugh over this. Think about it friend: Alaska and California, I’ll even keep Chernobyl if you like. Have a good one. Let’s take a lunch.” laughed Putin, explained an anonymous insider.

Just like that the climate denier in chief was going to give away our wokest state, which would have turned back the decades of real progress that progressive socialists have accomplished in major California cities! It’s time to start up the next impeachment hearings.

Diversity is our strength.

Vote Blue No Matter Who.

I wouldn't let him have California without at least asking for some extra shiny polished sea shells in the deal, on a string no less, but Alaska? No way they can have that one. Why not throw in Organ and Washinstate instead? And maybe a fresh cup of Starbucks to sweeten the deal? I need to go back to my safe space for a while....

That kinda follows the logic of everybody wins, everyone gets a trophy. So the ones that don't actually win get rewarded anyway? Stupid idea, no motivation to do better next time. And now those kids are out and about with us, and they just can't understand why they aren't getting those trophies like the did when they were children. Hmmmmm, things that make you go, WTF?
