Australia sets crypto deadline

Newly implemented regulations from Australia’s financial intelligence agency, AUSTRAC, has mandated domestic cryptocurrency exchanges to register with the authority before end of next month. Australia may not be one of the biggest markets for Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, but it is a growing one. Seems like Australia is becoming crypto continent

Do you have a list of Australian exchanges? And which ones are registered and those that are not?

a little less than 100 cryptocurrency exchanges are now operating within Australia, however, only 20 of them are registered with the AUSTRAC. But really, only few matter

especially since new act  gives the AUSTRAC the authority to collect information on customer’s identity. The agency can even monitor suspicious looking digital transactions or cash transactions involving more than $10,000 on the registered businesses.

well they should since in 2017 alone, the agency has received 1289 Bitcoin-related scam complaints

Doesn't handing the reigns over to those that control the current monetary system undermine one of the main benefits of bitcoin and certain alts
