While China's electric car industry is booming, Beijing is looking to phase out subsidies by 2020,  forcing the sector to adopt to  a new financial reality.

China's booming EV sales have been built on huge subsidies and other policy support. Their market will tank  once Beijing phase out subsidies.

Not really. They have already cut subsidies last year for electric car makers by 40 percent and imposed tougher technological standards, but it didn't hurt the sale. On the contrary, Chinese electric car sales rose more than 80 percent from a year earlier in last November.

There is a huge difference between China and other countries, regarding a commitments of government. Chinese government supported this industry all the way up and enforced it. Not many countries can say the same.
