ConocoPhillips wins $2 billion ruling against Venezuela

ConocoPhillips won a $2 billion arbitration against Venezuela’s state-controlled oil company over the 2007 expropriation of two oil projects, among the biggest so far against Venezuela's national oil company PDVSA. But this company has defaulted on more than $2.5 billion in debt and isn't expected to make any payments to ConocoPhillips. Good luck collecting, ConocoPhillips.

They’ll never receive a dime. That’s the risk when dealing with totalitarian regimes.

And not only Conocophillips but other companies that are suing for assets taken by Venezuela's socialist government. Maduro stopped paying to creditors last year when their debts were $150 billion.
