I think EU is damaging its citizens well.  Gallon of gas in the US is $ 2 USD (3.8 liters), in the UK is it almost $ 6 USD.  Most of the profits go the government in the UK.   EU citizens do not see much of the benefits of the low oil and natural gas prices

With the demise of Rough storage and UK North Sea production peaking (again) the UK is reliant on continental infrastructure for security of gas supply. Significant gas fired electricity generation leverages risk into power supply too. What a great time to be distancing ourselves from our European energy providers!

that's a good one. They couldn't even get a single currency working smoothly. Energy--no way, and definitely not with Russia in the equation.
