His brother Rob Ford was the former Mayor of Toronto, and got tangled up in doing dope in the Mayor's office.  The two Ford Brothers became a political powerhouse, also a bit of an embarrassment, depends on whom you talk with.  The brother has since died.

Gentlemen we all are dealing with a new phenomenon, personally i like to call it the "COVID MALAISE". 

At the same time it is my opinion the fundamentals of the US constitution are being threatened along with world stability.

As of right now there seems to be no clear direction how this will come to a end. 

I ask you to merely look at the title of this thread..each of us has a perception of what it means. 

My perception...what is this country doing where are the critical thinkers on both sides. How could one party get into such a position.

Take the time to read the definition of MALAISE then ask answer yourself honestly could that be me? I believe Occam's Razor plays a role here.

I would agree with that observation.   The thematic principle of the US Constitution is that the Federal and State Governments are governments of limited jurisdiction.  All "powers"  [to be read as authorities] not specifically enumerated are to be reserved to the People.  And the People have certain rights and privileges that cannot be abridged.  Now, where one right is the right to peaceably assemble, who is some govt. bureaucrat or politician to tell the People that they cannot?  Yet, that is exactly what you have with Covid19 Orders. 

To illustrate, the Governor of Michigan issued an Order that residents can go out on the water in a boat  [Michigan is a State with literally a thousand lakes, plus several of the Great Lakes on its borders], but the boat cannot have a motor; you can go out in a kayak or a canoe, not not in your fishing boat with an outboard.  Now, who is 48-year-old Gretchen Whitmer, Governor of Michigan, Democratic Party  (no surprise), Governor since 2019, to issue Orders like that to "the People"?   

What Whitmer is doing is usurping the US Constitution, substituting a feudal-lord medieval form of servitude in its place, with her as the Lord and the rest of the society as her serfs.  

Now, I grant you that this is with the best of intentions (at least, for the greater part). But not quite.  Her husband, Dr. Marc Mallory, turns out to be an avid boatsman.   Dr. Mallory is a dentist, and turns out to have been the Governor's personal dentist, where they met, she in the chair, he with the tools.  She went to the U of Michigan Law School  (and a little light on the classes on Constitutional Law, apparently); he to the U of Michigan School of Dentistry.  And what he does is go put his motorboat in first, "jumping the queue," because after all he is married to the Governor herself.   https://www.earnthenecklace.com/marc-mallory-wiki/

So here you have this crass display of droit du roi, where there are two classes of society, the "rulers," and everybody else  (call them the Peons, or perhaps more accurately, the PeedOns).  That Constitution thingy about rights reserved to the People, that gets peed-on as well, and the insolent new aristocracy takes over - well, because it can. 

Intellectually speaking, this is no different than what Mr. Putin is doing in Moscow, convincing everyone that because he is now the President, the 2-term Constitutional limit should be abolished as far as it applies to him, and he should get four terms, because he is The Boss.  And it looks like it is going that way.  And the rest of society?  Well, they are the PeedOns.

A “cold and ruthless” President Obama abandoned his Kenyan family in their greatest hours of need, according to a new tell-all by estranged half brother Malik Obama.

When Barack Obama visited Kenya in July 2015, brother Malik made a personal appeal on behalf of Hawa during a family dinner.

“She really had been good to him,” Malik Obama writes. “I don’t understand how somebody who claimed to be a relative or a brother can behave the way that he’s behaving, be so cold and ruthless, and just turn his back on the people he said were his family.”

The older brother also took a swipe at Barack Obama’s memoir, “Dreams From My Father,” which he says “wasn’t accurate” and filled with “embellishments.” The book cited claims of their grandfather being detained and beaten in 1949 by British colonial troops as likely false — an assessment other scholars have also come to.  

Malik Obama made national headlines after announcing he was supporting Trump over Hillary Clinton. He became one of the billionaire’s most ardent defenders on social media, earning a hit piece in BuzzFeed and an invitation to the third presidential debate, where he palled around with Kellyanne Conway.

Malik’s faith in Trump remains unwavering.

“[I’m] 110% still with Trump,” he said. “He’s not fake. He tells us the way he sees it. He’s bold and fearless and he’s tough.”

He also mocked the Democratic nominee Joe Biden as too old and feeble to win.

“I don’t think he’s going to make it. His teeth are falling off,” Obama laughed. “He looks like he’s going to drop dead.”

It's all good actually part of life one just needs to accept such things and move on. 

I am in my early 60's,two yrs ago I suffered a minor stroke and had some adjustments to make.

With that being said stepping into the PRESIDENTAL limelight and most importantly responsibility? It is gloves off age,sex,color etc etc.

Yes, and I get it that Joe may well be the one saying "hey, I'll make this decision, thank you very much" so he's only getting what is to be expected.  Still, normally, I would only have empathy for him and his family if I knew them and knew he was going through "the decline", as it were, and it is then a family responsibility to make sure he's not being unduly used, etc.

We are from the same opinion, actually I once liked the guy, his sons loss is not something no man/father should experience. Tragic very tragic.
