The problem in US is that you cannot make 11m people for example in New York to get tested in 5 days, city isolated from the rest of the country till the procedure is finished. And finally you cannot make all Covid positive to be isolated.

This would solve the problem.

But you have civil liberties, so 3 million New Yorkers would refuse testing. Even with all NY cops and judges engaged it would take 30 years to go through the due process and finally test them.

 The whole testing does not have any sense unless you develop serious symptoms and doctors just need to know how to treat you.

You cannot change constitution : Amendment : Civil rights does not include the right to refuse anti-viral testing procedure.

The only logical  result of this thought process is that we have to adjust to life under COVID even with 50,000 new cases and 1,000 dead daily.

There is no 3rd way you cannot eradicate COVID and retain democracy.

Thanks for pointing out that claim about imported fish, it didn't catch my attention.  In these post-truth days, I usually just zoom into main point of news items, and often ignore the minor details. I then check other sources to verify the facts.  I don't often pay attention to all the minor details, because it would be time consuming to fact check everything.

Regarding the imported fish, this guy talked about it, and the Chinese news outlets reported it as well.

Trump's rallies are super spreader events and by my count, he has held 8 live in-person rallies this month.  He seems to be accelerating them as the election nears.  Together with the flu season, it will be interesting to see the Covid impact in the next few days.

China would test 11M people in 5 days because they should.  If a new outbreak is allowed to spread, the economic and human costs will just be too high. E.g. the Covid-19 pandemic is expected to cost America $16 trillion in economic losses and hundreds of thousands of deaths, if they can't get it under control.  Hopefully a new government will do a better job in fighting this disease

At the moment, China has gotten the virus under control - life is normal and their economy is doing great.  Testing is key to preventing this pandemic from coming back.

Super spreader events like Sturgis? 450,000 people one death and a great big nothing burger (other than a thoroughly discredited "study" by a couple of moronic economists). Absolutely agree.  I brought that event (Sturgis biker rally) to this forum and said at that time that the people who went would tell the rest of the world if it hit them like the media and the Left claimed it would.  It did not.  I also stated that the media and Left were staying silent about the event and would continue to do so unless people started dropping like flies, like they claimed was happening elsewhere.   They stayed quiet with the only follow-on report saying some computer model showed they must be dropping like flies, which they weren't.  Real world data as opposed to "ought to be".

"Worldometers" is fake.  We did indeed look into them only to find they were a made up site to report numbers the Left wanted to put out to the world, bereft of facts.  But, since they were made up by the Left they show up prominently in Google searches as a top search result, which gives them some semblance of a valid result.  They are not.

You can't eradicate CV19. Despite claims to the contrary, they didn't. They will continue having sporadic outbreaks because low grade infections continue unnoticed.

In the US and many countries, China's deliberate exporting of CV19 cases created an endemic condition far worse than China's where tracking was already happening anyway and tests were made domestically. US was unprepared, having exported its medical test component production capacity to China. Germany was also in better shape on testing and medical components.

Currently China tests 111,163 per 1 million of its population.

USA tests 379,044 per 1 Million

When you say China tests 9 million in 5 days it sounds impressive but in reality it isnt due to their enormous population.

Marcin makes the valid point that because the West have civil liberties and China doesnt it makes it very difficult no matter who is the president/prime minister to get this virus under control without removing those liberties (ie lockdowns).

Fyi, since you mentioned the Flu Season. Flu cases and deaths appear to have been counted as Covid in weeks 40 and 41. No surprise there as this was already happening in week April (when the flu case count stopped 6 weeks earlier than in previous years). Why is there such a strong push to test so many asymptomatic people? Perhaps to try to keep the fear levels elevated? The WHO recently admitted that Covid has a similar mortality rate than the flu, and similar average ages of deceased (above 80 years old). Unless they want to stop death which is not possible, this whole intense focus on Covid is just to control the people through fear. It's time to move on and learn to live with it. For a vast majority of people Covid will never be an issue, yet their lives have been completely uprooted this year.
