EU Must Not Burn The World's Forests For 'Renewable' Energy

Recommended Posts

New directive of the European Union to double current renewable energy by 2030. Great but not if you plan to cut trees and burn them for energy.

You mean the plan is to burn down forests, or are we talking about tree farms?

Directive foresees cut of an old trees and at the same time to renew the forest funds. There's a lot of contraverse about this and this directive is "interesting" by the way it enables cutting trees to achieve these goals.

It already lasts for a long time. According to report of Birdlife's Black Book of Bioenergy protected forests in Europe felled to meet EU renewable targets

Indeed we do sometimes waste energy to save energy ... when we go overboard and don't let renewable energy evolve more naturally. That said, I haven't read the directive. I think we should focus on ways that bring fossil fuels and renewables together for a transitional period. Like having a solar farm produce oil (re California). This makes sense.
