CNN's Jake Tapper questions double amputee purple heart recipient GOP Rep's commitment to democracy. Tapper is a disgrace.

CNN Management stands behind Tapper's disgusting behavior.

Representative Brian Mast (R-FL) lost both his legs during service to his country and Tapper questions his commitment to U.S. democracy ?

When implored to apologize Tapper doubled down and restated his questioning of Mast's commitment to his country.

There is no doubt that military service, including severe personal sacrifice, is a commitment to the country. However, the fact that someone 'at one time' suffered personal loss doesn't mean that their subsequent behavior is totally beyond reproach. Anyone that studies the history of the American Revolution finds out that Benedict Arnold had accomplished a lot for the American cause, accomplishments that weren't recognized or were belittled.

From Wikipedia: "Randall Harold "Duke" Cunningham (born December 8, 1941) is a former American politician, criminal, and retired fighter pilot. A Republican, he served as member of the U.S. House of Representatives from California's 50th District from 1991 to 2005, and subsequently served 8 years in prison for accepting at least $2.4 million in bribes from defense contractors. Cunningham resigned from Congress in 2005 after having pleaded guilty to bribery, fraud, and tax evasion in a widely publicized trial."

If someone is serving in the House of Representatives, their current behavior is judged in the context of the best interests of the country, no matter what they did previously, or what they suffered as a consequence.

Empathy, Jake?  Sacrifice?  No, nothing?  Okay, Jake.  Okay, CNN.  Okay, Left.

.  .  best interest of their country"

So Jake Tapper and you decide what's in the best interest of the United States.

Meredith, how many legs do you have ?

Maybe you can lend one to Brian Mast ?

Since I haven't seen the video of the interview, I have no idea whether the questioning is prejudicial or not. My only point is that people go astray, and that includes veterans - even seriously injured and disabled veterans. Whether someone 'lost their legs in combat' has nothing to do with where their loyalties lie in partisan politics.

The video is irrelevant. The discussion here is linking an injury sustained at one point in someone's life to an interview at a different point, and under different circumstances, in that person's life. This is a common method of emotional manipulation. This entire interview could have been set up precisely to produce this outcome.

When I was in high school we had a blind person come in and play the piano singing songs about being blind. Most blind people don't have much use for sympathy, they get by just like the rest of us. I've run into blind computer programmers, financial analysts, and (needless to say) pop stars. People's physical impairments are secondary to their mental capacities. Beethoven wrote the 9th symphony when he was deaf.

We are dealing with tribalism here.  If the left makes any point they are against it.  Doesn't matter what the principles are.  They hate the left.  I've been reading these threads for a while without commenting and all I see is tribalism.  Its a group of far right extremist who have been conned by the great Orange Clown.  They like to convince themselves and each other how the left wants to turn the country to socialism.  No matter what Clown does he is always right and they back him without question.  They have been conned and don't know it.  They think Trump would never lie to them.

They love posting videos and articles from far right media.  That is a typical response since they have trouble thinking for themselves.

They don't believe in our constitution.  They just want the right to win and if they need to ignore the constitution to do it that is what they will do.

So Trump was right about John McCain and his general bad behavior. Especially related to the banking issue involving several politicians.

Well, at least we don't have to watch CNN when we get back in the air.  On the other hand, when Biden is finished with the oil and gas industry, will we be able to actually fly on a plane?

Yes, tribalism is human nature.

It's just the modern version.

Pull out your anthropology course book from college and refresh your knowledge.

The U.S. use to be one tribe for the most part with common values and common goals.

Now your tribe thinks it is right and the other tribe is wrong.  Look what your party has brought on this country the last 4 years.  This country has been divided as never before. Well , maybe since the Civil war.  Unfortunately it  looks to be irreconcilable.

U.S. has always benefited from constructive discussions, honest debate and compromise. But the desire for power and money has now gotten way beyond being out of control.

Tolerance is no longer tolerated.

The left reminds me of my brother when playing the board game Monopoly with him in our younger years.    If it came to a point where he could not win by abiding by the rules he would flip the game board over and want to start over again.  Can't win by the rules of , than win by any means.
