Needless Drama for Renewables over Tax Bill?

I'm seeing reports now that say the new tax bill actually hangs on to the tax credits for renewables and also extends the tax credit of up to $7500 for EV purchases. Was all the drama for nothing?

As far as I can understand, the bill keeps intact subsidies for electric cars, wind farms, and solar panels, but it leaves in place added charges to banks that finance renewable projects, which renewable energy groups oppose.
