Now that McConnell/Chao connection to CCP Bank has been exposed , Mitch considering leaving Senate

On December 10, 2020 the Democrat lead House Oversight Committee resurrected  an investigation into Mitch's wife Secretary of Transportation and her family $1.2 Billion shipping business (Foremost Group) connection to Chinese Communist Party Banks.  A couple of days after the investigation restarted McConnell renounced Trump's effort to audit the vote in certain States and congratulated Biden as the winner.

To call off the dogs Mitch agreed to trash Trump from the floor of the Senate after impeachment hearing to stop the investigation.   Mitch thought Trump was Finished .  .  .  but miscalculated Trump support. The Irony is Mitch would not have won his tight Senate race without Trump's endorsement and Trump's voters.

So Mitch did a 180° turn last week saying he would support Trump if he ran again. But the Dems didn't like that   . .

.  .  .   So this week the Inspector General cited Elaine Chao for misuse of office (as former Secretary of Transportation)

Why hasn't an Inspector General cited Biden for misuse of office.

Now neither Party cares for Mitch. Mitch is compromised on anything and everything having to do with China policy and related votes.

With the prospect of losing his position of Senate Minority leader Mitch would rather leave before that position is taken from him.  He wants to protect his legacy.

However, presently the Governor of Kentucky would name the successor of McConnell whose term still has 6 years left. A Democrat replacement would give their party a majority in the Senate.

Mitch is working with the Kentucky state legislature to change that.

"  Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) is working with the Kentucky legislature to change the current seat vacancy laws when a Senate seat has been vacated before an election.

McConnell has been in the Senate since 1985. Last November he made short work of the election by winning his seventh term.

Kentucky Republicans told the Intercept, “McConnell has compiled a shortlist of successors in his home state of Kentucky, preparing for the possibility that he does not serve out his full term.”

The rumor amongst DC insiders is they will let McConnell retire as standing Minority leader with his legacy intact , as soon as he can get the Kentucky legislature to approve the succession plan.

McConnell leaving Congress and being replaced by a Democrat would give the Democrat Party a majority in the Senate. 51 (D) - 49 (R)

A disaster .
