if the sales are that good, then the government should stop subsidizing them

Batteries are much cleaner than oil, we're talking about cities getting cleaned, air pollution ended, lives being saved, and billions in health spent for lung-related diseases recovered. Not to mention it will be cheaper because the cost of the technology just keeps falling at a ridiculous pace.

Tax payers are still subsidizing the oil industry. Why not electric cars?

Subsidies in one form or another are responsible for all human progress. But I think we are done with oil in that respect

At $0.12 per kWh, a person could spend $3.48 per 100 miles, which would translate to roughly 33mpg at $1.15 per gallon.

But, should gas  go below a dollar, or even $1.15, your back to square one where the average small car gets at least that if not more, and having to recharge is not a problem.

More EV charging stations are needed where people work and travel. I love my 3-year old Nissan LEAF, but have a back-up van with an internal combustion engine for long trips. The battery placement in my EV results in a low center of gravity that gives my EV much better handling than my van. I charge my LEAF in my garage that has solar panels on its roof.

@Rodent it's going to have to be a hard pass. I mean if I really had to choose it would be a Tesla or a Raptor.
