Softbank invests 2.25 B in GM autonomous cars

GM announced that Softbank invested 2.25 Billion in its Cruise robo-taxi division, acquiring 19,6% of the firm. GM is reportedly ready to launch robo-taxi services at scale in 2019, using a  a purpose-built electric vehicle without a steering wheel or pedals.

GM Stock surged by 10% today following the announcement.

Autonomous electric vehicles are expected by some analysts to cause peak oil demand by the early 2020s.
