More than 300 U.S. buyers have already put down deposits for Rolls-Royce’s first electric vehicle prior to its unveiling on Tuesday, the luxury automaker’s CEO told CNBC.

Rolls-Royce CEO Torsten Muller-Otvos told CNBC that the buyers visited the company’s headquarters in Goodwood, England over the past two weeks to get a sneak peak at the Spectre, which was publicly revealed Tuesday and comes with a starting price tag of $413,000.

The two-door coupe, which is sleeker than a typical Rolls, has a range of about 320 miles and can go from 0-60 miles per hour in 4.4 seconds. Rolls-Royce has said its entire product line will be fully electric by 2030.

Muller-Otvos said the buyers put down deposits before they even saw the car.

“Once they have seen it here, they are delighted,” he said. “The order book looks strong.”

The car is the most expensive of EV coupe on the market and defines a new category of what Rolls calls an “Ultra-Luxury Electric Super Coupé.” General Motors, meanwhile, this week unveiled its Celestiq electric vehicle, which starts at more than $300,000.

Muller-Otvos said the switch to EVs is a natural for Rolls, since its cars are already famous for their smooth, quiet rides and quick power.

“It needs to be a Rolls-Royce first,” Muller-Otvos said. “That means stability, brilliant quality, timeless materials, flight-on-land, silent propulsion. It carries all these genes Rolls-Royce is famous for.”

Muller-Otvos declined to give specific sales targets or goals for the Spectre. In 2021, Rolls-Royce had a record year in terms of sales and production, delivering 5,586 cars.

“In terms of proportion (of sales), I would say Cullinan, our great SUV is one column. The second column is the Ghost, our great limousine. And then comes Spectre as the third column,” he said.

Among the special features in the Spectre are an illuminated front grille with 22 LEDs, a flowing aerodynamic “waft” line along the sides modeled after racing yachts and new digital intelligence system called Spirit. Its famous “Spirit of Ecstasy” hood ornament was also be redesigned, with a more modern look.

Other Rolls Royce models offer the popular “starlight headliner,” with over 1,400 tiny stars that light up on the car roof at night. As a special option, Spectre will offer the “Illuminated Fascia” of over 5,500 stars along the doors and roof.

“Spectre is the most perfect product that Rolls Royce has ever produced,” Muller-Otvos said.

Ha, ha!

 5,586 for 2021 worldwide

sales for 2022, with 6,021 sales in the year worldwide

a rise of 435

sales of Spectre up until October18 in the US alone .......More than 300 U.S. buyers

now you figure out worldwide sale for Spectre Ending Dec 31.........400? 500? 600?

subtract that from 435......Looks like all the growth in sales in 2022 from ICE vehicles....a loss of sales

ha ha ha EV's are RR future .......2030 is the change over date

and to top it off RR is dropping 2 of their poor selling ICE vehicles in 2023 with no ICE replacements

Rolls-Royce has announced that it will end the production of Wraith and Dawn models. The move comes after the company pulled down the models from its US lineup in April last year.

Mar 27, 2022

the company has confirmed with Autocar that production for both models will end in 2023, with the company having no plans to produce direct replacements.

Müller-Ötvös also added that the Spectre would fill the Wraith’s role in Rolls’ lineup.

Get used to it....ICE vehicles going out of production

HA HA HA

and the topper

This is the brand’s first step toward becoming an all-electric brand which it wants to do before the end of the decade

Your ICE bucket is going to be empty at RR in 2030

drop in the bucket??? no more ICE drops in the RR bucket

HA HA HA

You seem to have misread the numbers again, as usual. The first electric model comes out in December 2023. The success this past year is from Internal Combustion models.

"Despite cutting models from its lineup as it geared to face the electric future, Rolls Royce still managed to shift 6,000 cars in 2022. This, according to Auto Express, made for a record year for the company:

“The Goodwood marque says that strong performance in the United States, Greater China and Europe drove its global sales increase. And it is confident that it can build on the success this year, with orders for ‘all models’ stretching well into the next 12 months. Rolls-Royce also says the pre-order bank for the all-electric Spectre – a car that’s not due to be delivered until the final quarter of this year – has ‘exceeded expectations’.”

In terms of models across its range, the Cullinan SUV was Rolls Royce’s best-selling model over the past 12 months, while the Ghost was the most popular model in Asia-Pacific. It’ll be interesting to see how those top sellers will look at the end of 2023, when Rolls will introduce its first EV, the Spectre."

Like a made in China MAGA hat.

you might have gotten things mixed......... Souvenir vs MAGA hat.......

One is a sent-away-thing; another is imported for local usages.

Or, if we put it another way..........

Souvenir is a child that produced after a one night stand onto the visiting partner and usually given away free or at low price.  MAGA hat is a child specially produced upon requested, most probably with a fee, despite from another country.

MAGA hat deserves a like............ Globalization might have made low cost campaign possible... :o^_^

you might have not noticed this sentence:" it is an Italian product, made in China".

Like iphone, a product of USA, but some made in china......

Most of us might have low impression on the quality of products produced by China generally. Owing to the volume of production is usually aimed at serving a tentative 1 to 10% of a billion population, raw material has to be planned out........ Would they need to cut purity to hit the mark? Compromise on types of material used? Where would recurrent purchase be if one purchase lasts a life time? etc etc......... A soft reminder, those who owned empires used to have several hundreds of concubines and porcupines, if we are interested to know why they need more money from recurrent sales...........

However, sometimes it depends on how things are produced e.g. material and design or parts from USA, assembled in China, might produce things as good as from the original country...... One could sustain factories at home country and yet create more affordable products for many while creating jobs and may be a chain of development to targeted location........ e.g. Japan.

There is not just one way how things can be perceived........

Coal usage is up in Germany, the hotbed of Green fanaticism. Expect coal usage to increase going forward.

https://oilprice.com/Latest-Energy-News/World-News/Germany-Will-Need-To-Hold-Onto-Coal-Power-For-Longer.html

"Germany’s hard coal demand from coal-fired power stations increased by 16% last year, new VDKI estimates show, cited by Argus Media. While that’s lower than what VDKI previously predicted, coal usage in Germany is still up, and the country will keep relying on coal for longer than Germany would like.

Germany imported 43mn t of hard coal last year, up 4.7%, VDKI estimates. Steam coal imports used for power plants rose 12% to 30mn t."

Oil is still the King of Energy and demand for oil is going to increase dramatically going forward.

China will rapidly increase its coal production going forward.

https://oilprice.com/Latest-Energy-News/World-News/China-To-Accelerate-The-Construction-Of-Coal-Fired-Power-Plants.html

"In 2022, China said it would continue to maximize the use of coal in the coming years as it caters to its energy security, despite pledges to contribute to global efforts to reduce emissions.

In recent months, China has significantly boosted its coal production, following government orders.

China produced a record amount of coal last year, although output ended the year with a decline amid the latest surge in Covid infections. Total Chinese coal output for the year reached 4.496 billion tons, which was a 9-percent increase compared to 2021, according to official statistics data."
