Putin Says 'Fierce' U.S. Politics Hindering Summit With Trump

Russian President Vladimir Putin blamed political ructions in the United States for difficulties in arranging a summit with President Donald Trump, in remarks broadcast on Monday. Trump said in March the two leaders would meet soon. But since then already fragile ties between Washington and Moscow have been strained further by the conflict in Syria and the poisoning of a former Russian spy in Britain. Putin said last month the proposed summit was beset by problems and was not working out for now. Trump is under pressure from special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into whether Russia meddled in the 2016 U.S. election and whether there was collusion with Trump’s campaign - something both he and Moscow deny. “In one of our last discussions, Donald said he is concerned about the danger of a new arms race. I agree with him entirely,” Putin said. Who knows, after KJU - Trump summit, everything's possible...including summit with Putin.

More of the same... Until I see a Kim Trump summit, i wont believe in any announcement or any other step or measure taken by the current White House administration, specially when it comes to dealing with Venezuela. Double standards almost all of the times. Lack of coherence mostly. This is why so far the Department of State has lacked important credibility. Maybe this is why Putin is outmaneuvering the White House so far, especially in Syria.

Perhaps most US citizens will find it hard to fathom but Putin is probably the most pro-US politician Russia could get as President today.
As for the toxic environment in US politics that hinders such a summit, with the usual suspects ready to cry "treason", he is not far from the truth.
