Did anyone actually benefit from the nuclear plants? The customers ended up paying more than was promised and then ended up paying to subsidize old nuclear plants and then pay to decommision them and guard the nuclear waste often letting the plant stand when dead. I just watched an old movie called Tulsa. It was about the need for best practices for conservation while drilling for oil in Oklahoma. it was made in 1949. NASA has done some high altitude geophysical work using adapted U-2's/ER-2'shttps://www.nasa.gov/centers/armstrong/news/FactSheets/FS-046-DFRC.html with AVARIS to study deep rock formations in the Great Basin at depths and conditions where regular seismic does not work. They found volcanic rock and faults from the subduction of the Pacific plate under the Sierra Nevada mountains. Regular seismic did not find these. Oil wells interfere with center pivot irrigation systems. Boone Pickens had to dig pits for his wells once because the irrigation system was there first.
