Yachts To Be Exempt From EU's Carbon Pricing Plan

If there is anyone still confused why ESG, and the entire "green" movement is one giant, boiling cauldron of lies, hypocrisy and fraud, read on.

Last summer, we reported that the European Commission - that murder of career bureaucrats - has proposed exempting private jets, the one most polluting form of transportation, from the planned EU jet fuel tax. A draft indicated that the tax would be phased-in for passenger flights, including ones that carry cargo. Private jets will enjoy an exemption through classification of "business aviation" as the use of aircraft by firms for carriage of passengers or goods as an "aid to the conduct of their business", if generally considered not for public hire. It gets better: a further exemption is given for "pleasure" flights whereby an aircraft is used for "personal or recreational" purposes not associated with a business or professional use.

This is odd because a recent report found that private-jet CO2 emissions in Europe rose by 31% between 2005 and 2019, with flights to popular destinations up markedly during summer holiday seasons. So if Europe was truly concerned about curbing CO2 emissions it would ostensibly go after some of the biggest culprits... but no.

Of course, since it is mostly billionaires and the ultra wealthy that fly private, and these same billionaires and ultra wealthy tend to be exempt from regulations (which are usually written by politicians that the ultra rich have previously bribed or bought) that apply to the rest of the peasantry, this was hardly a huge surprise.

Which is why we doubt that the latest news showing just how pervasive the "green" hypocrisy is, will also come as a surprise.

According to a new report from Transport & Environment (T&E) titled "Climate Impacts of Exemptions to EU’s Shipping Proposals:
Arbitrary exemptions undermine integrity of shipping laws
" , more than half of Europe’s ships would be exempt from the European Commission’s carbon pricing plan for the sector. Among them: highly polluting if extremely desirable - for the Monte Carlo set - yachts.

According to the report, in July 2021, the European Commission published a set of proposals to decarbonize the maritime sector. However, what quietly not mentioned, is that the proposed carbon pricing scheme (ETS) and the low GHG fuel standard (FuelEU Maritime) will only apply to ships above 5,000 GT and exclude a number of ship types such as offshore vessels, fishing vessels and.... yachts.

yacht%20exemption.jpg?itok=F1W8wy9Y

It appears that a size threshold was implemented after the fact precisely the allow yachts to be among the vessels exempt from the regulation. The problem is that by setting the threshold so high, ships accounting for nearly 20% of the EU’s shipping emissions - would be exemplt, double what the Commission originally claimed the exemption would cover.

Or, as T&E puts it, the "EU shipping proposals exempt as much pollution as Denmark's total annual CO2 emmissions."

Eu%20shipping%20proposals.jpg?itok=3QVUl

But... but... mining bitcoin is so, so dirty and must be stopped immediately!

Again, this is just so Europe's aged oligarchs can invite their 20-year-old Russian mistresses on board their yachts on anchor next to Monte Carlo.

In the report, T&E writes that it has analyzed the current proposals to find that too many heavily emitting ships would be let off the hook. T&E instead "recommends a system which is based on an emissions threshold and not based on size. This would cover more emissions without adding an administrative burden to the industry."

Of course, that will never happen because such a system would no longer exempt yachts. And since the core tenet of the entire Green/ESG farce is to make two sets of rules: one for the 0.001% and another for everyone else, peasants will be told to accept it... and if they dare take their masks off when protesting, they will be send straight to the Australian concentration camps pardon 5-star quarantine facilities.

No, Facebook Owner Mark Zuckerberg did not buy yacht Ulysses

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg obviously did not buy a 350-foot superyacht Ulysses as originally said by some certain sources. One of the Turkish Newspaper, which primary stated that Mark Zuckerberg purchased the yacht, removed this news from its web page later a representative constantly rejected to several broadcasting sources that Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan had owned the yacht. There’s no indication that they made any purchase. We have published this news on 18.01.2018 here and we believe this article makes the correction about the issue now.

The yacht is a 107-meter luxury expedition motor yacht previously owned by New Zealand billionaire Graeme Hart, with the name "Ulysses". The yacht was handed over to an anonymous purchaser in October 2017 by Fraser Yachts. In March 2018, the name of the yacht was changed to Andromeda. At present, the boat's owner was assumed to be a Russian billionaire and investor, Yuri Milner.

According to a statement by some news sources, Facebook owner Mark Zuckerberg silently purchased a 350-foot expedition superyacht for $150 million in September. Yet, a Zuckerberg representative has severely rejected the Facebook CEO purchased the yacht.

FALSE  follows The founder of Facebook Mark Zuckerberg purchased an ultra-luxury yacht named “Ulysses” for $150 million in Monaco Yacht Show in September, which is normally listed at $195 million. The yacht Ulysses has a private helicopter, a separate 24-meter tender boat, an extra 4x4 car and a motorcycle.

Bill Gates bought super yacht Aqua

Bill Gates just purchased a $650 million environmental-friendly super yacht Aqua

Bill Gates, the second wealthiest man of the world after Jeff Bezos, has apparently bought the most fashionable super yacht which is totally driven by liquid hydrogen. Gates frequently shares his fortune accompanying ecosystem responsive enterprise in addition to establishments occupied for better world health.

Bill Gates, who is the founder of Microsoft, is a routine superyacht traveler but has not formerly purchased his own yacht and has chosen to charter during summer voyages around the Mediterranean.

He is now participating seriously in a totally environmental friendly superyacht in the faiths that many other entrepreneurs track his indication.

This fresh yacht was firstly seen at the Monaco Yacht Show. The yacht was built by a Dutch firm Sinot Yacht Design.

Dutch design company Sinot is occupied in a boat which completely run by hydrogen, in the sense that its single emission will be water. It is expected to work at a maximum speed of 17 knots, with maximum range of 3,750 nautical miles.

The construction period of the yacht Aqua will be under supervision of Lateral Naval Architects. The length of the yacht Aqua is 112 meters and be motorized by liquid hydrogen delivering electrical energy to the fuel cells.

"For improvement of Aqua we grabbed creativeness from the life of a selective, open-minded owner, the liquid adaptability of water and front-line expertise, to joint this in a 112-meter superyacht with really pioneering characters," creator Sander Sinot reported.

"Our task was to apply entirely effective fluid hydrogen and power units in a real mega yacht that is not only revolutionary in expertise but also in project and overlooking," the prime designer, Sander Sinot, told in a media announcement.

The huge yacht Aqua combined with five decks and is able to accommodate up to 14 guests and 31 crew. The project has been stimulated by the ocean and Aqua’s curved outside shapes flow from the stern thru a 360-degree watching shell.

Aqua has 4 guest cabins, 2 VIP cabins and 1 owner suite. In order carry 31 crew, the yacht moreover has 14 double personnel rooms, 2 officer cabins and 1 captain's quarter.

Moreover, round stairway is one of the yacht’s major characters, curving down from the highest deck to the lower deck. The key architectural attraction of the staircase is at its lowest flat where two enormous watery hydrogen containers can be perceived in their hexagonal rough exterior.

Aqua also has an interior health and wellness facility including a gym, a jacuzzi room, and a yoga studio.

On top of being innovative, the boat is also very comfortable, with an infinity pool, heliport, spa, and indoor pool. The design of the yacht took over 6 months to realize and display a high-tech project. However, notwithstanding that the gossips of a Gates’ property, the Aqua is still just a model. The yacht is unlikely to be on the sea before 2024.

In this we're not talking about the old style left which is concerned about jobs and conditions for the poor, but what I like to call the poseur-left. the people who fly to conferences on those private jets to urge measures that will increase energy bills for the poor - all so that they can virtue signal and feel good about themselves. The exemptions noted above are further indication of the hypocrisy of those elites who lecture the rest of us about emissions.

Takes a second place to "poseur-left." A tastefull position to assume. A departure or bridge point for social distancing. Bravo Mr.Lawson!

Yeah....

If you knew anything about US history you would know that it was Reagan and the Republicans who appointed the first US czar. But then we know you don't let factual reality get in the way of your narrative. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drug_czar

How much carbon do you think is in liquid hydrogen?

Ah yes, one place hydrogen can actually work.  Large volume, super heavy tanks required to store the Hydrogen can actually work on a ship.  Of course ports actually able to store said hydrogen and then distribute it is another gargantuan challenge in and of itself.  Better off just making methane and using that instead of hydrogen and pretending we have a viable fuel cell technology.

+1

Gates can afford the extra expensive fuel to make his boat clean.  Although the hydrogen is probably made from methane.
