Trump requested Saudi Arabia to ramp up oil production in 2 million barrels a day

Recommended Posts

If I am right, this move is to curb Iran. The sanctions on Iran was due to Saudi Arabia wanting to cut Iran's powers in Syria, Iraq, Yemen, Palestine and Lebanon. Immediately after sanctions were removed, Iran started to increase their influence in middle east by funding proxies to encircle KSA.

Iran was being extraordinarily foolish and unreasonable in its quest for dominance despite not having much clout. Iran would have been wiser to first establish the gas sector by being a leader of gas production while improving the economy internally before going on the offensive in other territory.

The perils of Twitter. It's actually nothing new. White House press statement on phone call just says that the kingdom maintains a 2 mil b/d spare capacity, which it will prudently use if and when necessary.
