Toyota and Uber go driverless

Uber and Toyota are partnering to develop driverless cars, The Wall Street Journal reported. Toyota will invest about $500 million in Uber as part of the agreement between the two companies, according to the Journal. Toyota's investment values the ride-hailing firm at $72 billion.

Uber has been seeking ways to lower development costs and losses in its autonomous-vehicle unit following a fatal crash involving one of its cars earlier this year in Arizona. Last year, the Uber division spent about $750 million on self-driving car development before making cuts this year

$72 billion, slightly higher than where SoftBank Group Corp. 9984, +0.59%   valued the ride-hailing company earlier this year with its funding

they could pick some better looking vehicle, rather than Sienna
