America Is Exceptional in Its Political Divide

Recommended Posts

As a UK citizen knowing my own country has rarely if ever been as polarized as it is today largely because of Brexit, I am costantly surprised by the enormous divide and mistrust by USA posters on this site who are either pro Democrat or pro Republican.

Since the rise of Trump and the political fervour surrounding him from both sides the rhetoric has just escalated to a new level or at least that is my perception as a "foreigner". Do you guys feel there is ever going to be a more accepting middle ground between the 2 parties or even the potential politically for a new party to take that middle ground and become a force in years to come?

As an outsider looking in its not reassuring to other nations that the hegemon appears to be so divided, and potentially will inflict upon itself enough wounds for a country such as China to step in and take over that mantle.

Love to know your thoughts.

The answer is simple really:Change in religion.  The percentage of atheism is now dominant and are actively changing the societal rules to conform to their religion.

When you have a society originally based on one religion and the religion changes, giant societal upheavals happen.

USA has embraced perversion in every form.  Truth for one side is utterly irrelevant.  Stealing is omnipresent.  You cannot have a society based on lies, stealing, perversion.  When the old guard hanging on finally admit the old nation based on truth/science is gone and admits that the most dangerous country in the world is the USA as majority have embraced corruption and lies at all levels of society, the quicker the USA can start fixing itself.  Either evangelize and change the majority of people back to our ancestors religion  which was based in speaking truth  and scientific method of analysis, or USA is doomed into a state where the Oligarchs rule.  We have seen this throughout all of history in a multitude of different nations/empires.  Nothing new here.  No one changes until brought down.

I can agree with the above to a great extent. However our free press has become corrupted, like that or not honest messaging is vital to any country.

We are now experiencing a "anything goes time" this will fade soon. Fads are quite hard to bust in the US.

It is not just the mainly left wing press but the left wing educational system and unions, left wing foundations, left wing online media, left wing government unions, left wing USPS, left wing pro and collegiate sports organizations, left wing FBI, left wing IRS, left wing business leaders, left wing district attorneys, left wing military brass, etc. That said, we are still the most conservative large nation in the world. The extreme divide is only to be expected when our elections are not trusted, our legal system is not trusted, our government agencies are abusing their power, Republicans are singled out for prosecution by our judicial system while Democrats are ignored. I could write a book about it, but many good ones are available.

All we conservatives can do is wait for the next election while we expose the present government. Meanwhile we have millions of new non citizens that have been and are flooding our country for the benefit of our business moguls, including my Governor Pritzker and his multi billionaire family. Even our last census was "adjusted" to favor Blue States.

How can you still be a trump maga nut after all the evidence presented?  The simplest explanation is trump lost and did crimes - not some giant failure of the USA.

You do correctly point out that the left own / control everything.  Consider that the left are just smarter and more popular than the right.  Democracy is rough on the losers.   "Personally I like winners."

Tractor Protests Spread: 5,000 Slovenian Farmers Stand Against EU Green Agenda

5,000 farmers are said to have taken part in a tractor rally in Slovenia in order to protest green agenda rules implemented by both national and EU officials in the country.

Thousands of farmers across Slovenia reportedly took to the country’s streets in their tractors on Friday in order to protest various green agenda rules in place in the country.

The demo is reminiscent of similar events that are now regularly taking place in other EU countries, with farmers in Germany, Flanders and the Netherlands all having taken part in similar rallies protesting EU green rules.

According to a report by Euractiv, around 5,000 farmers are said to have taken part in the protest, which has largely been in response to recent ruling restricting the use of pesticides in certain areas over water pollution fears.

Farmers are also angry about legal protections for wolves and brown bears in the country — both of which have reportedly been involved in attacks on livestock — as well as widespread EU environmentalist protections affecting one-third of Slovenia’s total landmass.

Those in the farming sector are now demanding that the government acts within ten days to curb many of these measures, warning that they will escalate their protests if the movement’s demands are not met.

Speaking on the protest, President of the Trade Union of Slovenian Farmers, Anton Medved, claimed that Slovenian farmers had been “sacrificed for the environmental experiments of activists and civil servants” before adding that both the “Green countryside and national prosperity are the results of the work of farmers”.

“We expect they will receive us within ten days. If not, we will step up our activities,” he went on to say.

The demonstrations across Slovenia — which reportedly remained peaceful — are the latest in a number of similar protests that have taken place throughout Europe largely in response to restrictive green rules implemented by the EU.

Initially starting in the Netherlands, where the country’s government has repeatedly threatened to forcibly shut down farms over fears to do with nitrogen pollution, the demonstrations have since spread to neighbouring Germany and Flanders, the latter of which saw farmers pour into the EU’s de facto capital of Brussels to express their frustrations with the bloc’s environmentalist goals.

Although failing initially to provoke any positive change within government administrations, 2023 has seen the protest movement finally start to have a serious political effect, with a pro-farmer party that was only founded in 2019 outright winning the Dutch regional elections earlier this month.

The FarmerCitizenMovement (BBB) party is now set to hold the single largest number of seats within the country’s senate, with some party’s within the ruling Dutch coalition now expressing a desire to see EU rules aimed at putting farmers out of business curtailed in response to the party’s extremely strong polling.

Slovenian officials so far appear like they will be far more willing to listen to the concerns of the country’s farmers however, with the country’s minister for agriculture insisting that the “farmers know that we are on their side”, even if “not all” of the protest’s demands “can be solved overnight”.

Brexit has been going on for years because the European Union wants to control Great Britain.

Hungary does not want to follow their rules and many nations have problems with EU policies.

Immigration has been the same dispute as in the U.S.

Farmers all across Europe are having massive demonstrations against E.U. policies.

Violent riots are taking place in France over retirement age increases.

If Europe were paying its share of defense expenses America would not have to carry far more than its share of the load.

Our states are much more alike than your countries are. Your industries are often moving to America because of our energy and labor prices.

I would say that Europe has just as many divisions as America does.

Historically, there used to be people who held different opinion in the parliament. Debate used to be meaningful. Elders made sense from both sides in things important to their daily lives.

Nowadays, easy life of those related make debate looks like a ignorant joke.

In trying to show which party, race, group they represent, they agree for the sake of agreeing; oppose for the sake of opposing. No essence in the remark nor practical/ useful meaning in the debate or questions raised. Wasting time, money, energy for nothing.

Worse, a statistic showed this amazing figure........ on how enthusiastic those elected were on issues related to the public.... After deducted absentees, parliament seatings of a country was reported to be 1/3 representatives scattered outside the Hall🤪, 1/3 sleeping inside the parliament 🥱, left 1/3 awake due to compulsory presentation etc. 1/3 ~ 30 persons? 'o'

Democracy nowadays.............😣🤬

Totally agree Ron it always has and always will due to the dramatically different cultures involved, England has been fighting the French for a millenium or more for example, but Europe wasnt the topic for debate.

As far as Brexit is concerned I believe very few British people count themselves as European, we are an Island nation and that makes a big difference.

The topic is about the current clear polarisation of the USA and the responses back on this topic further demonstrate the huge divisions and mistrust from both sides of the political divide. There seems next to no middle ground to cling to. From your own responses you refuse to accept anything the democrats say or do and blame them for everything. On the other hand this is the same from the democrats to republicans. This is not a healthy situation for the global hegemon in my opinion. Surely there is good and bad policy from both sides?

Whatever your view of what happened at Capitol Hill it isnt a good look to other nations and hopefully it isnt to most Americans.

I'm probably not clued up enough to comment which is why I asked the question in the first place.
