Lucid Motors Partners With Electrify America For ‘Ultra-Fast’ Charging

After a $1 billion round of funding from Saudi Arabia, Lucid Motors announced a new partnership with Electrify America to provide Lucid customers a nationwide charging plan. This electric car maker  plans to offer customers high-speed charging services for electric cars across the United States on a charging network funded by Volkswagen. 

According to the deal, VW subsidiary Electrify America will create a charging subscription plan for Lucid on Electrify America's planned network of 500 charging sites, all of which it expects to have built or under construction by July 2019. The deal gives Lucid another leg up against Tesla and signals increasing competition in the luxury electric car segment.

Electrify America just uses industry standard CCS and Chademo connectors. Presumably Lucid can use any charging station with CCS. Unless this means Lucid Air customers get free charging at EA chargers.

I was wondering the same thing. I assume its some sort of partnership where you get free or cheaper charging on Electrify America chargers.

VW and Electrify America are distinct entities. By linking it to VW you are giving VW free advertising, and helping them wash their hands of the diesel scandal.

They may be distinct entities, but all the money that goes into EA comes from VW. VW is required to build it from a settlement with California.

Wow incredible! They are looking to grow FAST! 

They are planing to build over 2,000 DC ultra-fast chargers at nearly 500 sites in metro and highway locations across 40 states and 17 major cities by June 2019.

However, they still have a way to go to compete against Tesla. 

Last time I read tesla has over 10,000 stations around the world with about 1300 in North America.
