Who the F' is going to pay over $3k in insurance.  How DUMB are people?

Mine is $350

Of course I am not so gullible and STUPID as to buy "full coverage" so called "insurance"

Thats because you drive around in an old knackered beater thats not even worth $350

People who can afford new cars would choose fully comprehensive insurance, if they didnt they would be stupid!

Well, currently driving a 2021 car I bought for $5,800 with ~45,000 miles on it.

Insurance is a scam.  I have been wrecked into and insurance did--> nothing, at which point I ditched my insurance and went with the cheapest option since they do NOTHING for you which would not be FAR cheaper to do yourself instead of paying $$$ for gold plated edition.  Sorry you are dumb, or lazy and demand everyone work on your vehicles instead of doing basic maintenance yourself.

If I'm so dumb how come I drive a new BMW 330E hybrid, dont pay anything for fuel, dont pay anything for maintenance, dont pay anything for insurance?

It REALLY does seem driving a $5,800 vehicle where you insure it, maintain it yourself etc is really the dumb thing to do if you can afford not to. I guess you cant, which also makes you dumb. I guess youre one of those guys who is "good with their hands" but a bit limited in the IQ stakes. Ive worked hard for what I have but by using my brain not my hands, that said I can change a car engine if i want to as I did when i was a kid and poor.

Maybe you should try being an insurance salesman 🤣🤡

How much is your car worth?  Heck, just tell use the year, make, and model of your primary vehicle.  You seem proud of your choices so why not?

You seem to be unaware that fossil fuel cars actually have a secondary used vehicle market, unlike the clunkers being sold as EVs.

They just make better sense from every point of view.

Rob, the second hand EVs are completely worthless, just like the EV revolution itself.

Fossil fuel cars have real value as second hand cars.

Once again you attempt to stray from the topic once exposed.  The topic at hand was insurance and now you switch to resale value.

Small cars in the UK are the most popular as they are more economic, cheaper to run, cheaper to buy, cheaper to maintain, easier to park, and generally better for short journey commutes which is the vast majority.

You and others have been saying EV's are too expensive for the masses, this type of car proves you wrong and will attract a massive demand for them as they are considerably cheaper than their ICE counterparts.

A four seater car albeit compact is fine for most on short journeys, why do you need a massive car? That's what the vast majority of people will be thinking and that's what they'll be buying!

No, the market for small EVs is borne of political desperation, no one really wants an EV with the endless hours of charging.

You need new glasses, old man. Rob introduced the subject above, I was merely refuting his stuff.

You are getting touchy, old bean.

You were responding to my post. Try to keep up.

"Insurance for EVs? Companies are running away from those."

I don't even have to post data for you to know that is biased and deceptive.

"No one" yeah tell that to all the customers.

Once again, if the EV revolution is not happening or destined to fail you have nothing to worry about!  You post about doom and gloom if the green revolution proceeds but simultaneously claim it will not happen.

Haha!

The entire service industry is about getting people to do things for you in exchange for money.

You probably refuse to go to a restaurant because you can make Kraft dinner at home for cheaper.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with spending money on things that improve your quality of life.  A professional chef is better than a home cook, a journeyman mechanic - with fancy tools - will do a better job than an amateur with a wrench.

As for regular maintenance there is much less to do with an EV.  Every time you drudge to the store to buy more oil and filters, change your oil, dispose of the waste and clean up, an EV owner is doing more enjoyable things.

I'm almost afraid to ask how you get your medical and dental work done.

The e-car industry does not need more bad news, but it keeps coming anyway. I've linked a series of videos which tell a grim story. The real mystery in this is why governments are still insisting on targets when its obvious that the bulk of consumers won't buy these things. Arguably the bulk of the non-rich, non-green consumers (most of the market) had little interest in EVs before this as the vehicles had no market edge and major disadvantages. Now with all the horror stories emerging from the sector - minor damage to the battery casing costing many thousands of dollars in repairs, software problems, difficulties in finding chargers, high maintenance costs and so on - they are even less likely to go near them. Other posters on this forum may try to argue that some of the stories are unfair and/or teething problems with new technology, or happen to petrol cars but that it to miss the point. The horror stories are out there and e-cars have a huge image problem, and it is difficult to see how that bad image can be fixed inside of several decades.

On the other hand, they cannot sell anything that is overpriced to begin with. Pickup trucks and expensive vehicles in general. EVs and ICE vehicles are both overpriced. Europe and America are setting high tariffs on Chinese cars to protect their domestic automotive industries.

Exactly Ron, only 2 years ago the EU countries were offering subsidies and incentives to buy an EV, now EV's are cheaper than their domestic ICE manufacturers. Technology moves at a pace, Mark Lawson and others on here always fail to recognise this fact!

<<Palm in face>> No, no they aren't.  Not even close.  You could import $4000 "new" chinese ICE cars too...

This is all about EU's current environmental CO2 religion.

nope no it isnt its about cheap foreign EV's flooding historical auto manufacturing heartlands and they dont like it because they cant compete. Surely even you're not that stupid? Where can you buy a $4K new EV from? Do tell.

Oh maybe you have them all parked in your tunnels? By the way how is your tunnel projects coming along 🤡

when one looks at TVs............they were way overpriced when they were made in the US...

today.....would any want the US to block out, using tariffs, imported TVs made with parts manufactured in China?????? to bring back manufacturing of TVs in the US????

How much would you be willing to pay for a Made in the USA TV???????? 1000's of dollars for each one???? no one would lo like to turn back that clock

The writing is on the wall ....Tesla's are overpriced and will never take over the US car market unless Tesla can come up with a less than $30,000 EV.....IE Tesla becomes a not for profit enterprise or they get the US to tax credit subsidize them (oh wait that already is happening)

Tesla's allure in the Chinese market it fading real fast.....Teslas are overpriced in China now compared to the Chinese EV makers

Lower cost EVs/plugin hybrids and hybrids/ICE vehicles can be made available in the US with a middle of the road solution

I agree with you Ron, EVs and ICE vehicles are both  way overpriced............

the middle of the road solution is to allow the Chinese automakers to partner or set up shop in the US to manufacture the batteries, the frames and outer skins , tires and drive trains and do the assembly in the US. As for all the components that require a lot of hand labor.....well you go with low labor countries for those components.....IE wiring harnesses.........electric motors.........seats ....air bag assemblies...taillight assemblies ...small plastic parts .........etc etc

if you do not find a middle road it is only a matter of time before the Asians/Chinese with their low labor costs will dominate the worlds auto manufacturing and markets.........

I know you are stupid and can't read, but I specifically said $4k for an ICE in China idiot.  🤡

I know you are ignorant of anything outside the UK, but in China a Mid tier new car costs $10k.  Their mini cars cost around $3k, but this is old number so call it $4k now.  You can get even smaller lighter cars cheaper than this.  Where you stop calling something a car is up to you and your ignorance.
