Yes. China opened the door to the world quite late in the late 1970s. 50 years later still much to do due to the size of the population and the land coverage........ Only quite recently China attibutes the success of China's transforming economy to Deng instead of common believe Mao. Before 1970s?? ............... (whispering mode)........... outsiders had to force their way in secretly through guns or drugs................ But........... mind me asking what has been the interest Marina? Export? Invest? :-)

Good article. Being an emerging market allows for protectionist policies.
