But Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer has resisted the idea, and the proposal had not yet been introduced to President Donald Trump, according to the Journal. Mid-level U.S. and Chinese officials met in Beijing last week to discuss China’s offers to address U.S. complaints about intellectual property theft and increase purchases of U.S. goods and services. ronwagn + 6,290 January 18, 2019 Giving a trade advantage to China is one ls one of the worst things we do. It has helped them and harmed us. We should trade with nations that are not totalitarian adversaries of the United States. China is the largest and most powerful adversary we have. They have stolen our secrets, persecute their own people, and are working hard to build their influence worldwide. North Korea is their lapdog, Russia is their ally. We should be very stern with China as they are being very stern with us. Our capitalists with investment in China may feel differently but some are withdrawing their interest in China as they should.
