German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas said on Friday that Russia could save the missile accord known as the Intermediate-range Nuclear Forces Treaty (INF) if it rid itself of treaty-violating cruise missiles. Speaking during a visit to Moscow, Maas said the disarmament treaty needed to stay since it was crucial to Germany’s security interests. He welcomed Russia’s willingness to keep talking about the INF treaty, from which Washington wants to withdraw.

It's important to keep talking about the INF treaty, because world will not be the same with or without this agreement.... What is alternative? Cold war, potential third world war...I can't understand people who are trying to support break of the INF agreement...

Near the "Crystal Palace" of the United Nations, in New York, one can see a metal sculpture named The evil conquered by the good that represents San Jorge crossing a dragon with his spear. It was a gift from the USSR, which wanted to celebrate, in 1990, the signing of the INF Treaty (Moscow - Washington) to a document that eliminated short and medium range nuclear missiles (500-5,000km). Symbolically, the body of the dying nuclear dragon was made up of pieces of American ballistic missiles Pershing-2 and Soviet SS-20s withdrawn from their bases in the USSR. It was almost 30 years ago ....
And, someone wants to wake nuclear dragon, again ...

Russia and Putin have to know that the price for a new era of nuclear proliferation against humanity is too great! And, maybe it's the last moment to respect all aspects of the INF treaty....

Do you remember who unilaterally withdrawn from ABM treaty in 2002?

And which military pact in endessly expanding to the east despite agreement made 30 years ago? 

Its natural consequence in a situation when US military budget alone this year is about 720 bilion $ and russian 46 bilion.

I never heard about military conflict in which a potential agressor spends something like 25 times less than defensive pact that we know from Yugoslavia, Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya and Syria.

Nukes keep MAD, mutual assured destruction, in play, and that is best for the weaker power. The overkill already in place reduces adding more nuke deliver systems largely to posturing and politics. The firepower and accuracy in conventional weapons today is far more than folks realize as well.

For much of post WW2, the Soviet army had the numbers, and the nukes would probably be first use by the west to avoid being overrun. To some degree those roles are now reversed.

Great idea Adam! Why not accomplish this goal globally with all oil investors & perhaps top private equity funds to prevent removal of INF...
