UK's Cuadrilla gets go-ahead to test flows at Balcombe oil well...again

Recommended Posts

Fracking firm Cuadrilla has been given the go-ahead to explore for oil near a West Sussex village that was the site of the UK’s biggest anti-fracking protests. The company eventually scrapped its plans but recently applied for planning permission to test how much oil will flow from an existing well.

It will poison the water table and cause earthquakes. Thought this Tory government wanted to show how green they were but apparently not

I'm surprised the government has green lit this, the pollution and effect on local ecologies and water supply are unfathomable. There isnt much excuse to allow this to happen given the green technologies we now have available

anything is better than dealing with the Saudi Arabia. Oil, nuclear, solar, fracking...whatever

Fracking isn't the answer. UK currently produce 50% of its own from the North Sea reserves, this could be 100% if some of the new oil fields discovered further North (in the North Sea) were tapped.

I might be wrong on this...but testing flow rates from an existing well shouldn't involve drilling at all?
