US administration promises farmers a 'better deal' on NAFTA

The Trump administration's agriculture secretary sought to reassure farmers anxious Monday over the future of the North American Free Trade Agreement. President Trump will produce the best deal for the U.S., Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue told farmers gathered for the American Farm Bureau Federation's annual conference here.

TPP, NAFTA and Paris are all agreements that we withdrew from, and has no positive proposals to replace them.

I don't think they really care about the agriculture. Their proposed budget was very bad for farmers and actually cut funding for rural infrastructure.

NAFTA was great for farmers! And now Mexico is doing business with South America.

Might be too late for better deals. Mexico just diverted 20% of their corn purchases to Argentina, Canada signed a trade deal with the EU, which eliminates duties.

Right. To my understanding, we already have a good deal with NAFTA. We have lost most of the beef and pork trade with Japan because we dropped out of the TPP
