Safety recall for select 2011-13 Ford F-150 vehicles with 6-speed automatic transmission shift issues
Ford is issuing a safety recall on select 2011-13 Ford F-150 vehicles with 6-speed automatic transmission that may experience an intermittent loss of the transmission output speed sensor signal to the powertrain control module, potentially resulting in a temporary, unintended downshift into first gear. Depending on vehicle speed, a downshift to first gear without warning could result in a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash. Ford is aware of five reports of accidents, including one report of “whiplash” potentially related to this condition.  This action affects approximately 1.48 million vehicles in North America, including approximately 1.26 million in the United States and federalized territories and approximately 221,000 in Canada. Affected 2011-13 F-150 vehicles were built at Dearborn Assembly Plant, April 28, 2010 to Oct. 28, 2013, and Kansas City Assembly Plant, May 18, 2010 to Nov. 18, 2013.
Dealers will update the powertrain control module software in the affected vehicles. The Ford reference number for this recall is 19S07.

My Chevy Malibu has multiple problems/complaints from many people. They won't issue recalls though. Want to charge $150 to re-program computer to change shift points. If they know it's a problem, fix it for free. I'll never buy another American product again.

LOL, yeah, this is why my German car and the daughters supposedly reliable Nissan (rated highly on reliability for college and job transportation for her), have been in the shop more then the wife's recalled F150.  And at least the manufacturer will be repairing it instead of our pocketbook!  I'll take the hit on the F150 but would rather pay for that the expenses of the Audi after it went off factory warranty.  If you own a German car find a really good formerly certified Audi, BMW, MB mechanic to fix it.  It will cut your repair costs in half!

Ahem...Subaru recalls 640,000 vehicles worldwide due to 2 defects that can cause stalling. Toyota recalls 1 million + Prius, C-HR crossovers worldwide due to fire risk. They also recalled almost 3 million cars in 2016 due to fuel tank leaks. Whoops. Takata airbag issue affected 23 million vehicles worldwide (all manufacturers).

Superior Japanese car quality has always been a myth promoted by the likes of Consumer Reports. Wonder how much money changes hands for this.

German cars are unreliable money pits which is why people in the know always lease them for a few years then on to the next one. If you do drive one never ever buy it.
