Iran Threatens Retaliation If Trump Leaves Nuclear Deal

Iran--or at least theĀ spokesman of its nuclear energy agency--is apparently ready to respond in-kind if Trump decides to reimpose US sanctions on Tehran by restarting its uranium enrichment program. But that would very likely lead to another retaliation from the EU, which for now is distancing itself from Trump saying Iran is complying with its obligations under the 2015 deal. What are the chances of things spiraling down very quickly?

Key day is Thursday for this. Every 90 days, Trump has to certify Iran's compliance with the 2015 deal. That's tomorrow ...

Word is he's now expected to extend the sanctions relief for Iran.

They are supposed to announce it today now. But there is talk that while they will extend the relief (unpopular among hardliners who were hoping for warmongering), they might (as a bone to the hardliners) add additional economic sanctions on certain Iranian businesses and officials for "supporting terrorist groups" (as in Shi'ites, not Sunnis (ISIS is Sunni).
