Kurds are relatively passive in Syria as compared to Turkey or Iraq.There are becoming more and more volatile particularly in Turkey. Fallout there could be more disastrous than elsewhere.The renewed authoritarianism under President Erdognan poses real challenge.

yeah, the problem is if kurds make country it would hurt the national interests of every country that neighbors them! So they need to be really flexible and open for negotiations if they want to even dream.

It's seems to me, Turkey doesn't want peace in Syria. Erdogan wants an excuse to invade Syria, and probably ethnically cleanse Kurdish areas and the war with the PKK gives him the ultimate excuse to do this. And, of course he has support from Russia and Putin.

Probably, most description sentence about Erdogan ( the same goes for Putin)  First, he “cleansed” dissent by jailing political rivals, media, and academics. Then, he spread fear of inner enemies. Now, he started with attack outside from  the border. So, similar and sadly.
