A nice goal. They would do far better by using natural gas to help meet the goal of lowest possible emissions. China, India, and all nations who use other fuels will be the winners as Europe flounders economically under stiff competition. They will use coal as they talk about improving emissions. They will also adopt more LNG as time goes on. Natural gas is the answer to meeting CO2 and more pressing air pollution goals.

The climate has always changed and will continue to change forever. We cannot stop it, but may alter it somewhat. A total nuclear war might do it. Volcanoes might do it. A large meteor could surely do it. The best things we can do is stop using coal and use natural gas as the favored fuel for all things that cannot presently powered by wind, soar, hydro, waves, etc. Some say nuclear, but we have a lousy history of using it safely and it is not competitive with natural gas or renewables considering all long term costs.

I think the air was pretty nasty in 1890 too.Coal was, and is a real killer.
