Sturdy Way: Britain To Become First G7 Country With Net Zero Emissions Target

Recommended Posts

Britain has announced it will enshrine a new commitment to reach net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 into law, marking a first among G7 nations facing increasingly severe impacts from the climate crisis. With global carbon emissions at record highs despite decades of talks aimed at bringing them within safe limits, outgoing Prime Minister Theresa May said the goal was ambitious but essential for protecting Earth’s future. Now is the time to go further and faster to safeguard the environment for our children,” she said in a statement. “Reaching net zero by 2050 is an ambitious target, but it is crucial that we achieve it to ensure we protect our planet for future generations.” Britain’s existing target is to cut greenhouse gas emissions by 80 percent from 1990 levels by 2050. The new target is in line with the 2015 Paris climate agreement which calls on countries to reduce carbon emissions to net zero by mid-century to try to keep the global temperature rise as close to 1.5 degrees Celsius as possible.

Ah yes, the subtle religious connotations of The Church of Holy Climate Change.

Just how are we going to do that, we all stop breathing?
On the bright side, Britain is emitting less CO2 than at any time since 1890, according to The Week UK..

Not necessarily extinct, just reduced by 90%. World population 2050: 700 million.

Is this based on a serioous prognosis?

No believe in everthing what you see. Green fraud. For example: the claim Britain is coal-free for weeks at a time is false. When British coal plants are offline, Britain imports coal power from the Netherlands where the CO2 tax is about half...

Climate hysteria of Theresa May, the worst PM in modern UK history ... A cheap try on the end.

Yes, this has been seriously discussed.  Do a bit of research, I suggest you use DuckDuckGo search engine rather than Google to get better results on "sensitive" topics like this.

30 Population Control Quotes That Show That The Elite Truly Believe That Humans Are A Plague Upon The Earth

1. UK Television Presenter Sir David Attenborough: “We are a plague on the Earth. It’s coming home to roost over the next 50 years or so. It’s not just climate change; it’s sheer space, places to grow food for this enormous horde. Either we limit our population growth or the natural world will do it for us, and the natural world is doing it for us right now”

...

5. CNN Founder Ted Turner: “A total world population of 250-300 million people, a 95% decline from present levels, would be ideal.”

A nice goal. They would do far better by using natural gas to help meet the goal of lowest possible emissions. China, India, and all nations who use other fuels will be the winners as Europe flounders economically under stiff competition. They will use coal as they talk about improving emissions. They will also adopt more LNG as time goes on. Natural gas is the answer to meeting CO2 and more pressing air pollution goals.

The climate has always changed and will continue to change forever. We cannot stop it, but may alter it somewhat. A total nuclear war might do it. Volcanoes might do it. A large meteor could surely do it. The best things we can do is stop using coal and use natural gas as the favored fuel for all things that cannot presently powered by wind, soar, hydro, waves, etc. Some say nuclear, but we have a lousy history of using it safely and it is not competitive with natural gas or renewables considering all long term costs.

I think the air was pretty nasty in 1890 too.Coal was, and is a real killer.

That happened to be the WORST TIME EVER for air pollution. So that is the comparison.

Note the small graph to the right in the same graph. It is for Delhi!
