No.1 Action Trump Can Take to Increase U.S. National Security Is to Fast Track FERC Applications For New Offshore Crude Oil Export Terminals

(edited)

Now nine announced plans for new oil export terminalsThree have already submitted applications to the FERC regulatory body.

Trump signed new regulations to facilitate expediting the approval process.  The Administration needs to focus on these export terminal applications to assure their timely approval. The sooner the application approval the sooner the world benefits . . . . the more secure the world.

The proposed terminals (8 offshore, 1 onshore) will accommodate Very Large Crude Carriers (VLCC) which transport 2 million barrels

Industry analyst think 3 or 4 will be built in the short term.

Saudi Arabia said they would fill in demand for lost Iranian sanctions oil.  In recent weeks several Asian countries and India have requested Saudi Oil.  THE SAUDIs HAVE RENEGED ON THEIR PROMISE (surprise, surprise . . . not) They want to get Brent price in $80s. Saudis/OPEC need to be reminded which country spends over $100 Billion a year protecting their Persian Gulf shipping lanes.

The greater availability of diverse crude oil supply on the world market the safer for all countries.

If you think the world needs some oil and refinery diversification then the Gulf is the last place to build these ports. Foreign countries already own over 30% of US refining capacity of which little is needed for actual US consumption.

This is part of a larger problem that lands the US pretty high on the international corruption list.

Meanwhile back at the ranch, US citizens suck in that extra pollution by the millions driving up healthcare costs while petroleum product foreign consumers marvel at their US counterparts.

Boat

My post has nothing to do with U.S. GOM refineries and their ownership.

It's all about exporting crude oil to Asia and Europe.

I'm all for a clean environment but that's not going to happen overnight.
